OIur skills are really killing us and costing us games

Our skills are very ordinary at times, and often panic when in possession. We sometimes show we have ability, but have trouble maintaining it.
Is there anything worse than seeing the negative, chipping, time wasting game?

With a bit of precision kicking we could have beaten the WB on Saturday.

1...Consider average age of team
2Have consideration for HOW LONG it takes to develop not only skills, but decision-making at the drop of a hat,or,put it another way,to do the instinctive thing.....
3.......to develop those skills under all conditions..

Re: Our skills are really killing us and costing us games

If I was TW, I would make it a team rule that every player follow a set routine that they have for themselves and they dont stray from that ever when kicking for goal.

If they deviate from their set routine that has been allocated to them by the coaching staff then they are dragged to the phone for a spray.

Now how hard is that TW?

The most accurate goal kickers in the game almost always follow their set routine when lining up for goal and convert accordingly.

Come on richmond, something has to be done, this is beyond a joke now!

Why Terry persists playing the style when he doesnt have the cattle at his disposal like he had at the doggies is beyond me.

I also agree our skills are laughable at times, we are the clanger kings.

don't think we're the worst, our skills have improved a lot this year

I think some of the blame lays with the coaching staff, if the players can only kick with one foot then spend the entire summer practising the other foot , the same goes for hand ball.

geez thats something you learn in junior footy.

the simple fact about saturday is that we should have won. 6 straight behind in the first quarter and and 8-2 free kick count their way told the story. but you know what? in 2-3 years time we will win these types of games...

Just wanted to come back to this thread and make a comment and get others opinions.

In the first half the sort of football we were playing was like watching us 12 months agao when we smashed Carlton in the first half and in the second allow Carlton easy goals and the skill that we displayed for the first half was the same against the Lions but the second half the turnovers and skills were lamentable.

The run stopped
The kick ins took longer

The loseness of the opposition

Suggestions/thoughts

I think on Saturday night, the issue after half time was that the kids were starting to slow down & Brisbane couldn't play bad footy for 4 quarters. I thought the 1st half was the best footy I have seen from the Tige's in a long time, especially with so many kids getting game time in the 1st half. This is why I am more excited with the kids now, than I can truly remember.

i went home a little frustrated last week. we should have buried the lions and won by 20 goals. thats what footscray, sydney and st kilda did to us... no mercy.

I was just glad that we didn't lose the margin we had at half time. A 100 point margin would have been nice, and we weren't too far from it.
