On The Couch

gee we got some touchy posters on here.

parko feels that sydney "have the perfect game for developing sides" and hes bang on the button if you ask me.

i dont hold high hopes for us this weekend especially if bowden/petts/tivendale/hyde all play :'(

if we win it'll be a suprising outcome, but it doesnt make parkos preview wrong.

if they win its business as usual.

tool of the week? i dont think so.

Hawthornn, Bulldogs & Richmond all intially passed on Franklin.

RFC was going to pick up Roughhead with their 2nd pick till the Dawks got him with their first.

We needed quality fast midfielders first so I agree with the club getting Lids & Tambling. hate the comparsion purely Tambo vs Franklin

too many what ifs imo

Thats whay I thought as well around draft day. It seemed almost a consensus between most 'experts' that it would go Deledio to RFC, Tambling to the Hawks, Griffen to the Bulldogs, then Roughead to the Tigers. I always thought from that draft at the time that Tambling was the second best prospect on the board behind Deledio; and furthermore, that Roughead was a better prospect than Franklin.

But in all fairness, like someone said before me, almost all teams have made similar 'blues' (I'm not prepared to say this one is fully in Franklin's favour). We will, as will other teams make these picks. The reason is because the way they go about evaluating draft prospects in my opionion is absolute (Insert poo synonym here). Until that changes, sadly its something that all clubs have to fight against.

The funny thing is I actually though Wallsy and the others, held back.

I think they saw he wasn't handling it very well, so held back a bit and reworded their questions, in a way he could better answer.

I think the panel were getting just as uncomfortable, knowing Harvey was struggling.

that was very poor effort from Harvey, Freo deserve a better coach than that.
no they dont they deserve eternal damnation.

parko was correct anyway. what the hell is bowden doin in the backline? to help stem the tide...please. we are way past that. and now naming tivva on the extended bench. he was making the point that we have improved drastically without bowden up back, without tivva in the side, with richo mainly on a wing drifting fwd, with no petts. these moves have helped the team no doubt. why then is he starting to revert to these again when clearly we have moved on from that. or so we thought. Terry as soon as u revert to the old unsuccessful ways, u ll be out on ur assss buddy. look to the future with the kids, dont look back!! otherwise its goodbye terry!!!

Our record in the last quarters when we need a cool head would argue against that.

He's selecting on performance and the fact is Tiv is starring for Coburg.

Why, he was being criticised for incorrectly saying Bowden was back in defence when he wasn't. Not having seen the Sydney game I assume Bowden didn't play in defence for that game either.

he was being criticised by those who didnt like the smell of the truths that were coming from his mouth.

bowden is played back at times in the game even though he is named forward and that is what parkin was saying.

anyway, he was right. bringing in seniors (the same old failiures) who once again failed to stand tall when the pressure was on is going backwards and i agree.

the abosolute saddest thing is tivendale will also comeback this week :-[

will he stand up if the going gets tough?

never has, never will!!!

He drifted back when the defence was under pressure, most high forwards do nowadays. Even Lance Franklin was found in the backline against the Bulldogs. From whats been quoted here Parkin was going on like Bowden had a specific defensive role.

Look I think thats probably correct and we should dump Bowden and Pettifer now. But Bowden deserved another chance as a forward. He's been tried and the team seems to play worse when he's there regardless of where he plays, but we didn't know that until it was tried.

some people might suggest that they already had a fair idea

I think that everyone should lay off Tivva. He may make mistakes in games. Most richmond players do that each week. But I think he is in our best 22. If Tivva gets going and starts well, he generally has a fantastic game. I know VFL and AFL are different levels. But the fact is that Tivva has been awesome in the Burgers and his run is good and we need him in the side. I'd rather him in instead of a young player who is struggeling. If Tivva is in the side we need him to play an accountable role instead of his backline role. I believe he has done his time in the VFL lkike Bowden and Petts did.

I respect your passion and defending a tiger player is fair enough too.

I disagree that Tiv should be back in, but I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I also think Bowden and Petts (although I defended Petts in 2005 too) are not the way forward either.

But it's not a player's fault if they are picked to play, so ok, I'll lay off Tiv. But I can't guarantee I'll lay of his selection by others.
