This is from a site called Convict Creations (www.convictcreations.com) - I'm sure other people have read it. It's so true!

"Richmond supporters have often depicted Collingwood as representing the worst stereotypes of the working-class; profane, unruly, aggressive and obnoxious. On the other hand, Richmond has depicted themselves as representing the best aspects of the class; passionate and tough.

Personifying the difference was a TV show hosted by ex-Richmond captain Jack Dyer, and ex-Collingwood captain Lou Richards. There was Dyer, a magnificent physical specimen whose mere presence commanded valour, strength and dignity. Beside him was Richards; a sly little weasel who would rob his own mother if given half a chance."

"In recent years the rivalry has waned as there have been no Jack Dyers in Richmond's teams and they are now about as intimidating as Bambi."

True that.

Great site jimmy

Upon the Crows entry, I thought Collingwood had lost its way or position in the AFL. Circa early 90s, there was now a new team to hate more than the Carringbush.

I think Eddie's greatest contribution to AFL is to return the Maggots to its rightful position of the AFL's most hated.

The most succinct and best description I have heard of Pies supporters came from NZ comedienne Kel Wood: "Weird, toothless, feral retards!" Even Brereton hooked into them once, he described them as the 'family club', admittedly the families were the Addams and the Munsters.

From the same site:-

for many old Tiger fans, the next best thing to Richmond winning a flag, is seeing the Magpies lose one.
So true.

1980 was nirvana.
