In todays herald sun there was an article re end of season review compiled by Michael Horan.

Few stats of interest.

1. Clearances Shane Tuck and most benchings Shane Tuck . Fair effort i would think considering i would have thought Foley would have led the clearances. Nathan led the handballs.

2. Clangers. Matthew. Maybe some wouldnt be surprised with this considering missed shots at goal, ones which would be gimmies, would they be considered as clangers?

3. Most game time. Joel. interesting considering Joel was benched against St kilda last quarter when he had the ball on the string and Terry said that Joel himself called to the bench to come off as he was spent. Would you believe we didnt tank it to get that pre season draft pick?

4. Players that played every game. Only 9 . This stat showed how unsettled for most part the side was. Less than 50% not good enough(41%).

5.Goal assists. Matthew with 18 great effort here. He also led marks and goals.

6. Spoils. Will with 92 what a great effort here too from the young man under tremendous pressure, giving away experience and weight.

7. Inside 50's . Kane with 98. Again what an effort from an improving player the last two years a much maligned player at the club.

Interesting that Michael has Krak and Jay as potential trade baits which is what most of us here have said. !

Untouchables. Matthew
Brett
Nathan and
Foley

Interesting Joel isnt mentioned . Some of us here have actually mentioned him as a trade.

Draft picks 2 18 19 35 51

How important are the first three?

He mentions that we need to build up our rotation through the midfield. Obvious. We need an inside midfield type to help. We cant expect Cogs to be at his best straight away. !

thanks

Am pretty sure 'clangers' includes frees against. Richo is our most penalised player so it makes sense that he's leading the tally.

Duds very rarely feature near the top of the AFL clanger count, e.g. Franklin is attributed with more clangers than Richo.

We ranked near the top in players to have played 22 games - only Sydney and Kangaroos had more than 9. Melbourne only had 1.

Yep. We did it against the Saints. Lots of different players, we probably did it a bit during the year too, I just didn't get to too many games... :-[

What does 2008 hold for the Tigers? An improvement? Likely, as they cannot slip lower than last. The remaining games of the year showed some promise for the future, and they do have some good things happening for them. No.1 pre season draft pick, which allows Richmond a few options. One, they can take a delisted player...hmmmm?? Two, offer their No. 1 pick for November draft picks. Imagine if Fevola is delisted and a club down the ladder wants him badly enough, they could trade for him with us and give up some good early picks in the draft.

Another good sign is the form of VFL team Coburg. They are to play off in the semi-final this weekend, and the reserves are in the Grand Final already. Surely there has to be some promising youngsters the Tigers can give opportunities to next year.

Will have to wait and see, I guess. Too many years now of hopeful optimism for the upcoming year only to have those hopes dashed. At least one can glory in the halcyon years of the 70's and 1980. After that, all has gone pear shaped, but hope springs eternal if a Richmond member and supporter

the only way is up. hmmm interesting quote. there is one other option here . we could stay on the bottom of the ladder. ;D

I guess because Duds don't get the ball.

Adds weight to something I have always thought, the clanger count is the most useless stat in football.
