For crying out loud when you assess the Richmond Football Club List take this piece of advice and keep it your mind.
1) Fact: A good player at Richmond Football club is just a mediocre player at a good club
2) Mediocre players give inconsistant performances no matter what you tell or teach them
3) Richmond Football Club has recruited 95% mediocre players over the last 27 years.
4) The last 27 years has seen Richmond Football club give inconsistant performances match in match out.
5) Fact: Richmond Football club has now become the absolute number 1 joke of the AFL - A true basket case.
6) When was the last time we put a broom through our talent scouts - cos the ones we have, have all failed.
7) Do not get fooled by players potential after they have reached early 20's
8) Judge our players on what they have achieved and HOW CONSISTANTLY !!!!! Too many times we see one good performance in 4 from a player (and I won't mention names - no stuff it I will Tambling, Jackson, Tuck, Brown, Hislop, Riewolt etc ...) It is an indictment on this club that a Cousins can waltz in and be best at club - says a lot for the rest - and hence they stay in the side) No wonder Bowden is p!ssed off (another farewell we got wrong - No tiger official at his press conference, absolutely disgusting) he is probably still in our top 10 players and yet they give players like McMuffin game after game and they constantly turn over the ball. All I've heard today, "Tambling has it and he's turned it over again! He needs a new shrink.
9) Skill level, we recruit body types and not skills. The only one we got right is Cotchin and that is because the rest of the footy world said he was the one to pick. I reckon if you left it to the RFC by themselves they would have stuffed it up with another JON or Bling pickup.
10) I'll say it again, pick skills over body type.
11) Rawlings, do you feel justified in contnually picking King and Hislop? Because if that is the direction of player type you want, well we may as well give up 2010 season now.
12) Fact: A GOOD PLAYER at RFC is only a MEDIOCRE PLAYER anywhere else
13) Ask yourself this list management people - How many of our players would be picked in a Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, St Kilda, side (No more than 4) That means we have approx 38 mediocre players.
14) Self Promotion - I'll say it again, I have more confidence in my own abilities to coach RFC than any of the past umpteen coaches and statistics would have shown that I could have done now worse!
