Operation Nakia Cockatoo

Reckon Chocco would be in Frank's ear every day on this kid. Has made no secret of his desire to see more indigenous talent at Richmond.

You'd back Chocco to get the best out of him too.

I didn't even think of that. I thought Cockatoo would be a good type of player for Dimma to coach due to his desperation/contested ability being what Dimma loves (and reports on being committed to following out instructions). Chocco would probably mean Richmond is the ideal place for Cockatoo to get the best out of himself. Wondering if I would take him ahead of Duggan. It'll come down to the final hour I reckon :hihi

Guys like Cockatoo would also bring a bit of chaos theory to our game plan, we need that. For me it comes a case of looking for a guy who can make our style unpredictable, it will play on the oppositions mind too.

About time we also did our Dream Time at the G game some Justice and got an Indigenous kid that actually deserves to be a 1st rounder

There is no logic in this at all.

We don't need one indigenous player to do the Dream Time game "justice". It's about showing appreciation for the contribution indigenous footballers have made on the game. You don't need indigenous players to do that.

Seeing as how we are being politically correct , Lets have a good look at this situation

Out of 44 players we currently only had 1 player that was indigenous & He didnt even know he was until 2-3 years ago, Do you not believe that there should not be given more respect to the people of our land and be considered - Specially when we are 1 of the teams that play in the game that represents the indigenous rounds pinacle game !!

We respect them, and everyone on the team for that matter by only selecting players because they are the best available regardless of race.

It would be disrespectful to select an indigenous player because we felt some kind of obligation to. Simply because of one game we player every year.

Where did i say we should select Cockatoo 'ONLY because he is indigenous'

He is 1 of the best available and in some peoples eyes including myself is the best available at #12

I mentioned the Indiginous game because we actually do lack indigenous players in our team wether is intentional or accidental not sure but would be good to have somein our team not only of their backround but what they bring to the game and thats the flair that many seem to have naturally

Why do we lack indigenous players? Who says we have to have them? Is it an AFL mandate that we have to have a certain number? Maybe the coaching panel don't want this flair you say they have. Are they being racist by not drafting them?

What a nonsense.

Yes and our distinct lack of line breaking flair has cost us the odd game, particularly on the wide, difficult to defend MCG.

That's the key word. Our team needs more flair.
That doesn't necessarily mean we need to draft an indigenous player to provide it but without pigeon-holing too much, indigenous players have a history of providing that element.
Can Cockatoo provide a missing ingredient that our team is in shortage of? That will be the question Frank will have to ask when picking Nakia over others..

Beautifully put ToO. Lets not muck about, indigenous players represent the type of flair that excites, energises, and you know what?

Flair is so difficult for coaches to defend against.

Indeed, we play like robots at times, we need some party tricks to spice things up. I doubt this will come into Frank's thinking but from an overall perspective, Cockatoo is the type of headline act that would bring punters through the gates. I generally like his methodical approach to his recruiting philosophy but this is one occasion when the rule book needs to be pushed to the side and basic instinct needs to kick in. Go with the guts Frank, 2014 is the year of the Cockatoo.

I like it Bully.

Who could've predicted we would score a bonus contested animal in Miles?

Lets use the pick we might've used for Corey Ellis on something completely different.

I don't think Frank is as dour as many make out. He picked Edwards and was very bullish on the tricks Edwards has up his sleeve.
