Other games over the weekend

Just on the Kangaroos, Daniel Pratt could be the worst player in the AFL.
Shannon Watt and Drew Petrie would like to offer their objections.

Objections considered and dismissed. The verdict for Pratt stands and demands that all clubs play through his direct opponent on all occassions.

On a brighter note they have bugger all come through their 2nds at Ballarat too.Maybe J W Smith

Got to say that Wells just refuses to dominate a game.

Shows glimpses but hasn't dominated, maybe this is good as it gets.

Had more then enough time and still IMO is not a A grade mid.

Watched the Hawks Kangas game today too. The Kangaroos were robbed blind by the umpires.

If you think the Hawks are developing a one dimensional forward line around Franklin you are a fool.
What do you reckon of Roughhead Jimbob.Big wrap for him as a junior but I'm starting to wonder.Seems lost at the minute.

Far too early to write him off yet, he did kick 8 in the magoos last week didn't he. Look at our response to JR kicking 5.

Yes but roughie 3 years in the system should be some what dominating in the 1's not the magoos for his high draft selection....jack 2 games...

I think Tambling is going to be alot like Wells scoop.

He'll be able to light up in the odd quarter or the odd entire game and perhaps win a few off his own boot but will similarly have quiet ones. The're good players to have but you have to surround them with other quality grunts to get the best out of them. It's no slight on Tambling,it's just what i think he is.

The Roos, rather like us, don't have many said quality big possesiongrunts and so the fans get frustrated that the player isn't 'doing enough' when really it was just that the supporters didn't understand his 'type'

Interesting to note Davey, widely touted as the 'next big thing' is also struggling while Melbournes midfield is doing it tough.

Another quality comment from Turbo.

evo, don't often disagree with you about anything man, bit I do about this. I think he's showing this year that he can beat and opponent and go and get his own ball. His willingness to put himself over the ball or at the bottom of a pack is the biggest positive about his performances so far this year I reckon. He hasn't really had much opportunity to do this so far at Richmond being played mostly in the small forward role which isn't at all where his talents lay as a junior. I think he can improve dramatically in the next year or two not only by developing his body and fitness further but also by playing far more in his natural position. If all that happens and he does keep improving and plays more of an inside role he should have less problems than someone like Wells with consistency. I hope anyway.

Yes,Tambling will probably be better eventually at getting his own ball than Wells. But Wells has it over him in other departments, longer kick, big frame and so gets quite alot of cheapies from his harder working teammates etc.

Wells is no slouch in picking up stats when you look at him over his career to date.

You like your stats.Look at it so far

Pretty similar 1st 2 years(wells has a sllgiht advantage)-3rd year Wells was averaging 18 possies-and has continued along that path since.I think Bling will do similar, even when he gets more consistent midfield time(like Wells)

For me thats quite satisfactory.A Bling or Wells 19 possession game is probably more valuable than a Johnno 25 possesion game.Again it's no slight on either of them,I just think thats where they'll platau

Yeah agree mostly. TBH though, I'll be disappointed if ultimately Tambling isn't better than Wells. I hope (and expect) to see Tambling continue a pretty steady improvement through this year and next, where Wells is still pretty much where he was in his second year. I still think Wells can improve though. At 22 this could be his breakout year and if you look at just his last two games things look promising for him.

Spot on Evo-ultion. I threw it out there cause I look at Wells and I see a lot of Tambling.

Now the challenge for the RFC is to find Grant Brichall, Jordan Lewis or Shannon Hurn (all referded to as big bottomed on PRE) to surround Lids and Tambling with. THen we will see massive improvements in certain types.

I disgaree only cause wells always looks squave in the way he does things where Ritchie looks to have more urgency about his game, just my overall view.

2 seasons ago everyone thought Wells would be a bonifide superstar by now. That he hasn't is neither here nor there if you are drawing comparisons.
I don't think we really now what Tambling truly capable of yet if he starts to believe like he looked like he was in the first half on Saturday.. 8)
