Notice how simple the good teams make the game?

No BS gameplan. Get guys that can kick it, simple plan, first option every time, hard bodies at the contest and everyones work rate is the same without the ball and everyone tackles.

Simple footy.

I don't think the Saints game plan is simple. I originally thought they played a Hawthorn like zone only deeper but they were saying tonight on SEN that its more a combination of man on man and a zone. I'd actually like to see them live to analyse it better, obviously the TV conveys nothing of their game plan.

Yeah the Saints are playing incredible football. Just pressuring the other side till they turn it over.

The Big test will be when they play the good sides at the "G". Still yet to go there this year & the big ground has shown up there lack of leg speed in the past. They also can't close the game up to near the extent of Telstra either.

Also crucial that Reiwoldt stays fit & well. He structures them up & gives them an out when there under pressure so often coming out of defence.
He's a truely great great player.

Saying that, its gunna take a bold man to bet against them.

I have watched them live twice this year and their gameplan resembles nothing like Hawthorns of last years.

They focus more on the one on one's and back their midfield and backs to beat their opponents in contests with numbers around the contests.

I call this brand "Complete football".

I suggest whoever can, get down and watch the Saints, it is actually an entertaining brand of football, I'd imagine, what football was like in the old days.

Contests, numbers around the contests, desperation, fight, character, and most importantly, skill.

I admire them and as I have told people on this website, Ross Lyon has really worked wonders with them. Amazing what going through a process can do.

Yep. Late 90s under Alves revisited.

Milne annoys me because of his over the top celebrations, the team worked their guts out getting that ball down to you, all you did was rove the pack and kick it. BAH oh well, good win saints, hope you break your premiership drought

Saints will beat us by 300 points. No, really.

We'd be lucky to go inside 50, let alone score.

Although the horse has well and truly bolted, I would be hoping that Terry cancelled his Monday night solarium appointment and watched the game. I mean REALLY studied it. Then he would have noticed that tackling, sheparding and pressure is very important.

That it is also important to get players into the gym and turn them into men. Even Andrew McQualter is a tank now, it was just last year he looked like a twig.

Last but not least, while pace is an advantage, nothing can make up for quick precise ball movement. You have to draft footballers, not athletes.

Just an interesting one, Davis and Medhurst both missed last nights game, but were named as emergencies??

Disciplinary?

Medhurst was definitely injured after last weeks match, dunno about Davis.
