Whats the issue?? Tell me what did Chris Bond achieve as a player and what success did he experience as a player and under what coaches...and i think he is one of the best assistants going and now looks in line for the saints senior job......i mean i think its irrelevant. If someone has a top footy brain and a real passion for the game - and all reports suggest Jade is in this bracket - then why wouldnt we look at him. Wallace is no idiot...he wouldnt choose Jade over all other options if he was useless. Jade Rawliings is a wonderful football person who could add a heap to our club - extended enthusiasm and help our kids feel at home....

Isolation is no recommendation. And besides, in Bond’s case he had a reputation for being a hard nosed, tough and aggressive player – a background that many coaches who go on to be successful have had. Rawlings does not come with that background imo.

Further, he comes from a losing culture. At least Bond played for Carlton when they were successful.

He could not get a kick in his last few years of AFL football. Worse, he’s gonna be coaching a few players who used to towel him up e.g. Richo. What level of respect is he gonna come to the club with compared to the likes of other potential candidates going around like Voss..Elshaugh…Ratten… Hocking and countless others ? No comparison in that particular regard.

I don’t give a rats about whether he’s a nice bloke, can get on with the players or any of that other crap.

Personally, I reckon it’s a second rate appointment that only the following will subdue my contempt for:

1) we still have another high caliber Assistant appointment to make or;
2) we have gone down this ‘cheapo’ route in order to save some money so the footy department can splash some cash around at some high profile opposition players.

Imo we need higher calibre appointments than this. People with successful backgrounds and/or genuine long standing coaching and tactical experience that can better benefit our young group of players.

i think his job will be to communicate with the afl listed boys at coburg, and keep them on the straight and narrow.

May not have been a gun, but was always proffessional in his approach....and......hes cheap.

If that's the case then fine. But in replacing Wheadon or adding to our pure and direct coaching panel, I would find it a less than motivating appointment.

I gotta agree with Dead Bored here.

The coaching staff have been togther for 2 years now, IMO we need someone driven with an excellent  background that can both stimulate the staff & be an inspiration & role-model that the players will look up to.

I dont reckon Jade Rawlings is the best we can do.

Hopefully we have another appointment in the background. And it better not be someone with blonde hair who won a charlie. That would be worse. >:(

Voss or maybe Drew Banfield.

Are you saying that if we did, that it would be a woeful appointment Pooper Scooper ?

Whilst Rawlings may not be the most high profile, to be honest if it were to end up being him, I wouldn't be that concerned.

Yes we'd all like the assistant with the highest profile, most proven etc, however

I would certainly rather spend the extra money on the field (ie a player like Bradshaw) than off it (ie a coach like Voss).

The coaching staff as it is has done a splendid job the past two years. Sure there is room for improvement and it will improve already with the announcement that we are getting an extra person(along with a replacement for Wheadon). This is great new for the club as it is.

Wallace, Royal, King, Rawlings(?) & McRae(?) if that's how it is, still looks a lot better than last year's coaching setup.

What's the story on McRae's punch up at the Prince of Wales ? Why has that gone quiet all of a sudden ? Will Gherig get charged ? Did some transvestite start the punch up ? What gives ?

Oh Red, you scallywag. Your comedic genius never ceases to keep in my tears.

If we get him and Rawlings as coaches I will throw up. It could be worse, last year we tried to get these two as players.

Announced on SEN Rawlings 2 year contract to replace wheadon.
One more announcement to come.
Have no problem with Rawlings coming aboard.Don't think he'll be too hard on his brother in law Richo though.

I really like that coaching line up, good mix with experience and people fresh from the game.

Yep, good to see some fresh blood, hopefully he has learnt enough from his bad coaches that he knows what NOT to do.
