Our main core of players are the following: Bowden, Brown, Coughlan, Deledio, Gaspar, Kellaway, Hall, Hartigan, Hyde, Jackson, Krakouer, Meyer, Newman, Pettifer, Pattison, Raines, Richardson, Rodan, Schulz, Simmonds, Stafford, Tambling, Tuck & Thursfield.

Which leaves our team really looking for improvement without our team next year as we wont be getting any big name players for next season. With hopefully added improvement from: Deledio, Hall, Hartigan, Hyde, Jackson, Krakouer, Meyer, Newman, Pettifer, Pattison, Raines, Rodan, Schulz Tambling & Thursfield we could be on our way to the finals. This will b the primary target for next year improvement within so that we will have the added depth that we desperately need.

Should even 3/4 players listed improve from this year onwards we will be looking a top 5-8 side next yr.

Gee Neeldy, there area few on your list of "core players" that are either pips still growing, or are bruised and need cutting out.  Problem is, as stated by TW, that with so many youngsters, cutting hard is just not an option.

This is probably going to be the most interesting and most difficult trade period Miller and Wallace will ever have at the RFC.

This is very true, which leads to the question, do we keep our duds that would play just as well as our youngsters? Or do we give the youngsters early experience that is invaluable (deledio). I think a balance is needed like this year, however it begs the question that next yr will be a repeat of this year.

Yep, expecting 2006 to be more of the same - but 2007 to be significant step fwd (finals) with most 03/04 draftees to be better seasoned footballers. This depends on having a good core of 24-27's though - and they are still thin on the ground at RFC.

Do we Risk our Youthful future, if we play too many youngster, and burn em out?

Besides the Morrison joke which truly was humerous, I have real issues with Newman, Hyde and Hartigan who have often been played this year in defence.  I don't think these players have proven that they are consistently capable of holding down a defensive position and smothering their matchday opponent.

Our defense currently leaks like a sieve and it isn't the often maligned Kellaway, *smile* or Bowden at fault in my opinion.

These three are almost pretend 2nd tier players who need to improve by a fairly substantial margin to become the long term players the club needs.  Yes a lot of PRE Enders have their hopes firmly fixed on this trio, but without improvement they have probably two years left at the club.  I'm not a darksider calling for the axe just believe that these three aren't good enough yet to command a position in a more settled side than Richmond boasts at the moment.

GASPAR - on last legs

KELLAWAY - see above

HALL - TRUCK

STAFFORD - Old Slow ridiculous he stays and shows that things at Punt Road not as good as some would believe if Stafford has to go round again.

HARTIGAN - Erratic not proven and much work required on decision making, skills and attitude.

SCHULZ - See above.

KRAKOUER - Not a core player or leader at club and may be traded this year or next.

MEYER - tis a baby but will be quality.

PETTIFER - Soft soft soft, doesnt do enough.

RODAN - On comeback trail from major injury .

JACKSON - Unproven but has potential and a lot to offer RFC no doubt.

Hardly a list of what i would call CORE PLAYERS which the RFC could build a side from over the next 5 years. Meyer, Jackson and Hartigan maybe but i guarantee none of the others mentioned above will be Tiger players in 2 years tim

Deledio, Tambling, Meyer, Thursfield, Tuck, Coughlan, are only players who may be still playing come 3 -4  years time that are current future core players, as well as Simmo if he can fire up and get going. McGuane is the smokie as he has stacks of potential so will look forward to his progress in 06.
I have not included Raines, Hartigan or Jackson on this list as i still believe they all have a ways to go before they can be considered core players, whilst players such as Hyde, and Newman will control their own futures as a result of their performances.
Richo, Bowden and Browny will be on last legs or retired.

This is my assessment of our best options and best available talent currently at the RFC with what i think are the most glaring deficiencies that must be addressed.
I have not put players in every positionj as i have only put players in the side that i am confident will be starters for 2006 and also the fact i still do not rate many of the rest of our list to be quite honest.
That said Big question marks over many on the list still ie the quality of Schulz, Knobel, Raines, Hartigan, Roach, Krakouer, Archie,  Gilmore, and Hyde whilst the thought of duds such as Tivendale, Hall, Chaffey, Hilton and Pettifer going round again makes me wanna THROW UP!! TW!!!!!
