I find it amazing that we still have this reputation in the media....

Northey 1993-1995. Walked away when he was contracted for another year due to his own insecurities. Not sacked.
Walls 1996-1997. Sacked after a 137 point loss in Round 17. The way we played for most of that year, it appeared clear that he had lost the players.
Gieschen 1998-1999. Not sure about this one- I thought he actually resigned at the end of his term (may be wrong). From the outside it appeared he didn't have the respect of the senior clique of players.
Frawley 2000-2004. Was not offered a new contract. Based on performances in his last 3 years, is it any wonder?
Wallace 2005-now. who knows?

That means that so far, in 16 years since 1993, we have sacked 2 coaches (if we include Gieschen). Hardly the type of ruthless culture that the media portrays.

And is it this reputation that is stopping us frm sacking Terry?

It certainly led to us being turned down by everyone bar the reserves coach of the wooden spoon team 10 years ago (Frawley)

I agree.

But since then, we have given Spud a contract extension and hired Terry for 5 years. If anything, we have persisted with coaches for far too long over the past 10 years.

From one extreme to the other. Guess it explains why we got sucked in by Miller's call for stability. aka 5 year contracts. How's a bout a happy medium. Wallace has been treated like a king. 4+ years...I really doubt whether many would begrudge us sacking him after having such a long run.

We will honour this contract and the next coach(please be Hardwick) will get a three year deal.

I recon that is how it will play out as well. Just hope the wheels *to find a new coach and assistants* start turning very soon as coaches could be at a premium at the end of the season.

Gieshen was sacked.

Humiliating for him the way he was told to say he was walking away because of the pressure of the job.

I would have thought more dignity in being sacked than that.

Does anyone know what the story was with Knights and Cambbell in that last game against Carlton where we abused them.

the Geeesh & Frawley weren't sacked & assuming Wallace doesn't get sacked this year we'll have not sacked a coach for over 12 years. That is a better way to go as there will be nothing gained by chopping Wallace.

This is why I always hate hearing that we eat our own at Tigerland.

We haven't sacked a coach in over 10 years.

And as supporters, I think we're pretty bloody patient considering we've been in the better half of the competition TWICE in 25 years.

FFS, I hate how the media get on us and the club as if we're a bunch of ferals. If this was any other club, they would have gone the way of Fitzroy. WE are the only reason this club still exists and all we get is *smile* for it.

That's ok, have it heavily backended with the bonus kicking in based on finals appearances in years 4 & 5.

Hardwick will be asking for 5 to fix the current mess. :spin
The precedent has now been set. However realistically speaking he will need more than 5 years.
