Do you reckon you can go without a pay rise for 2 years in your job? (Under the proviso you are employed).

You're obviously not a teacher then gpb.

Anduril don't get me started on teachers, they're the biggest pack of whingers behind politicians. ;D

Many times they are both :rofl

The majority of our team are under 22 and have played ***gger all AFL games and really only deserve to be ranked by the VFL not the AFL.  Miller has to be a real SOB or we will never have the room in the salary cap for players which do improve and become real AFL players - like Tuck and Deledio.  Compare the Carlton and St Kilda lists for example.  You have Whitnall, Lappin and co screaming that they aren't getting enough and they have paid the Fervola monster a motza.  St Kilda on the other hand have a list which ought to and is near the top of its cap because its players are genuine stars rather than just the best the club has running around.  Players in that team are taking paycuts to stay in the team and are certainly not getting what other clubs would be prepared to pay them.

I believe you have to plan financially to have a list like St Kilda, just on the off chance you actually get a list like St Kilda.

Anyone read Caro's article about Fevola in today's Age?
Hmmmm.....
Wouldn't have him if he was the last option we had.

I would have thought that those players who have just come off their first contracts would all go in to a new price bracket.Tuck to 250 and Gilmour, Hartigen,Jackson,Raines and Roach up to about 125, maybe costing around 500 in additional payments.Maybe 3or4 new draftees would cost around 300 and about 250 for both Foley and Thursfield and maybe another 125 to pay for 2 additional rookies which would give us 4 in total.

It then depends who goes off the list but Campbells 50% will save us 175 plus a similar saving on Ben Holland to whom we still pay 50% of salary and 75 for Zantuck. One would also hope that Staffs contract will come down considerably, saving us maybe a further 100.The tpp goes up by nearly 200.

So thats 1175 out and 725 in,before possible delists and trades are taken into acc.I think Chaffey, Hyde,Krak and Tivendale might all be offered in trade. Its possible that we will go into 06 still paying 92.5% of TPP.Just too difficult to predict at this stage.

Can someone clarify this to me, will 2006 mean we are finally free of paying ex players (hoping of course no new trades will cost us) to play against us

Yeah - he's one bad nut

(Jonny Depp was great in the new Wonker movie! Did you take the kids on a school excursion to see it?) :hihi

Yeah it's a tough call isn't it?! What will Lids be worth on his next contract if he doesn't suffer second year blues and better still, continues his rate of development at the present rate? On the other hand is it even realistic to expect that all five of our top 20 picks of last year will even become top liners? Yeah Miller's job is dead easy :o

I think so CMT. Over the last several years we've had Holland & Zantuck as a liability and paying off part of their contracts. I'm not aware of any outstanding liabilites of presently, however we were on a good wicket a couple of years ago with Sydney paying off part of Stafford's contract.

Could be back there if we trade Krak
