Just got back from the game.Driving back alone to Geelong has enabled me to quietly make some observations about it.
1.Got to the G at 11.30,and went to Punt Rd to get the vibe for our big day.There was much merchandise being sold,long cues for that,financially this was good for the club.
2.Went into the G at the Players Club,listened to David King,sounding quite optimystic,cleverly evaded a question regarding Jay *smile*(I think he is on the outer unfortunately)
3.The pre match stuff was met with some enthusiasm,but when the players ran out looking like Hawthorn,there was a real gasp.A big mistake IMO.
4.The game.How it has changed.At the end of the first quarter 67 marks between both teams, 0 contested.At half time twice that for 4 contested.Netball?
5.IMO the main difference between the sides,Carlton were far more physical.Anyone able to see a replay should look at their shepheding.They clouted our guys every time,so much so,a couple saw them coming and shirked bigtime.
6.Why did we lose? On today's performance,and given our tendency to wind the clock down,we do not like pressure and hard football.Too many players seek,or have been used to getting the easy ball.
7.Finally.Richo should not have played.He was clearly injured from the start.Carlton left out Judd,we should have left out Richo.(I know he would have hissy-fitted,but he would have been better for the extra rest)
