Yes, I am feeling ok. After sitting down and having a good hard look at our season to date, I have actually come to the conclusion, that perhaps we are jumping the gun in relation to the uproar of T.Wallace and co. It seems we are actually travelling exactly how we should be, and exactly how Wallace wants us to be. His 2011 comments were actually a slap in the face to the current senior group and a warranted one at that. I think Terry’s biggest mistake thus far was that he himself had overrated our senior group of players, and has now finally realised how much they have let him down, and how inept they really are at leading a side and standing up when it counts. One of the reasons he chose Richmond over Hawthorn was that he believed we had a better group of senior players. To a degree that is understandable. We did have the likes of Richardson, J.Bowden(all-australian), Campbell, Coughlan, and the most important of all N.Brown(match winner). Over time though I believe Wallace has realised how mentally weak these players really are. Hence the recruitment of Graham, and his plead to Campbell to continue on for another year(he is the one that everyone seems to have forgotten. Was probably the only real leader on the field the club had at the time).

As long as we continue to be competitive as we have and don’t have any blow outs, it will help weed out the perpetrators and in 2 years time, the team will have a healthy balance of player ages and bodies. In 2 years time, the deledios, tamblings, raines etc will be in the mid age range, and will be seen as the leaders of the club. Hence it will allow for the youngsters coming through, the safe passage into senior football, without the need to win games off their own boot.

How ideal is the scenario that sees us win a game or two for the year, while remaining competitive in the others going down by the 20-30point mark at most. It gives us picks 1(potential superstar), pick 17 and 18. That will be 3 picks in the top 20. Perhaps we could look at trying to gain another top 20 pick via the trade and we already look to be on track. Couple those with the emergence of the others eg. JON, Casserley, Connors, Edwards, Riewoldt, Meyer, Collins etc. By years end more senior and mid range players not up to it will be shown the door, allowing the list to prosper.

Yes I have been negative so far, and have bagged a lot of players, most worthy of it, but after putting some thought into our situation, it seems WE ARE heading in the right direction, and it’s time RFC supporters, showed PATIENCE and heaped the blame squarely on the players and not the coaching panel. For too long most players have been spared of the blowtorch, but things have to change.

I for one, do see a bright future, but for now we have to put up with a bit of mediocrity to see the rewards. For so long the media has fed on our supporters frenzies because as many have noted we sell papers. We are passionate and love our club, and without doubt have the most loyal supporters, who now have to show some patience as it is most required.

Yes, I recently bagged Wallace and his motives, but have tried to look at the bigger picture, and see what he is actually trying to produce. I actually haven’t been this excited about finishing bottom for a long time. May sound mediocre, but sometimes a step back is worth a sprint forward!!!

I agree. We're not off course. We are doing the best we can with the manpower we have.

Sure the fade outs are painful and we've dropped 3 games we could have won this year, but we've got to remember our senior boys don't have a winners mentality.

My biggest fear is that unless we learn to win some of the tight games, our kids will start to have the same defeatist trait.

yea nah

we will be cherry ripe!

Did anyone hear him yesterday in the Geelong v Hawthorn game pronouncing the word “stymied” as “stimeed” ?

God, he’s dumb that bloke.

(Why do footy telecasters insist on using the dumbest, in-articulate ex-players they can find ? e.g. Brereton, Schwarz, Shaw, Frawley etc. )

Mr Redford, you of all people, should know that empty vessels make the most sound.

True. CC Tiger is like the Queen Mary in that respect.

(Where is Mr KFC today anyway ?)

shaw was captain of a premiership side, how, i have no idea. I have actually heard him speak at various functions, and to be honest he is almost impossible to follow, he a rambling bumbling fool.

Brereton is a complete w@nker, whose own ego and annoying mannerisms make him unlistenable.
Shwarz is actually a complete football moron, he has never said anything that I dont allready know, how the fruck he got that Channel 7 job I will never know

Blight is the shining light. A delight to listen too, especially when he hasnt had a punt on the game and he is biased the whole night against the team he hit to lose ;)

Very very well put FUD. I was actually thinking the same thing after Friday Nights loss. We have a very good bunch of juniors yet to appear in the seniors and with the pace and improved skills they will provide, we will be a much better side in 2/3 years.

In many ways, this is the year that had to happen and I truly have been waiting for it since TW took over. We could not expect to keep going upwards without either a great deal of luck in drafting, total avoidance of injuries a la the Swans, or the young guns all being Judd like stars in the very early years of their careers and taking over from the average senior guys we have at present. We had the worst list of all time when TW took over and it has improved, as it should have, markedly during his time.

I can see where we are headed and even against the Dogs, woeful as we were in the first half, we should have been in front at three quarter time based on the chances (largely untaken) we created during the 3rd quarter. That handball crappy style we trotted out in the first half has to stop, and TW clearly does not see this as part of his gameplan as he has critisized it for 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to drop serial offenders to get the message through.

As you said, with the changeover at the top of the leadership group, and continued good drafting of quick skillful young kids, we will get there. The pain this year will be worth it if it gets us more players that will play when the 2011 window comes around. He built a good list at the Dogs, and given the time frame he has outlined, he will do the same for us. PATIENCE is right.

couldn't agree more!

we have been within stiking distance in the last quarter of all 4 games.

we at least look competitive and really should have won a couple if it wasn't for some errors at critical times and a lack of onfield leaders (simmo, brown and cogs would have helped)

We have yet to master our game plan with skill. Having said that, we have given our opposition sides very easy goals, yet put ourselves in a position to win three of the four games.

I'm very disappointed, but we're not far away. The missing links are an extra running back and safe mark forward (playing HF to centre).

well put FUD....completely agree......
i'd be happy with a season where we win a couple of games(just less than 4.5 for the sake of the priority draft pick) whilst remaining competitive for the rest of our losses...then draft well to our needs....at the same time putting games into the young kids (not all at once so that we get flogged....but rotate them a bit maybe)
if you think about it....it's a little like essendon last season....lloyd out whole season plus a few other injuries here and there...they dun win much but remained competitive with 'honourable losses' most of the time.......addressed their needs (speed) in the draft and now they're back and looking good....

that is totally what we should do.......i don't think some ppl realise how much cogs and browny mean to our team set up....and what a big difference it makes not having them there...although we didn't have them either for the majority of last season....but IMO we over achieved a little big last season....

if we address our needs in ruck, tall defenders + another quality mid...get cogs and browny back for next season.....have our young ones eg jack, hughes, casserley, edwards, conners, meyer etc on top of lids, raines, polo, tambling, patto, mcguane etc....we'd be good to go next season and our future would be bright

Good post FUD and I endorse most of your comments.

I share the optimism and feel good about the efforts so far. I watched Friday night's loss and knew that we were outclassed, but loved the endeavour and the fact that they never gave up like they would have last year.

Stay positive guys and enjoy the ride.

Not that I really believe this but I have had similar thoughts.

1. Terry finally realises that his senior players are imposters and we have no chance over the next few years. (Big change from 'owing the senior players line')

2. He tells the list and media that we are no chance until 2011, which basically ensures they mentally lose their edge.

3. We play the kids, bottom out, let some of our senior 'champions' go to greener pastures, 'to give them an opporunity for a premiership'. I'm thinking anyone over 25.

4. We pick up more top end draft picks alah Hawthorn's Hay, Thompson and Everitt trades.

Yes we are on track after all...I think.

There's so much love on this thread.

If this keeps up, Geoffry might suddenly burst into song or Redders could dance all night.

Maybe both.
