I read Terry drafted Paddy as a winger but I have a sneaking suspicion he might be in the team to be groomed as a key forward. He's a straight kick and takes a strong mark.
I just got a bit suss from a comment a friend who watched him training made. Has Patrick played FF before, and how did he shape up, or am I way off the mark?

i tend to agree Rosy.Bowden the 2nd doesn't work hard enough both ways to be an effective winger in the fast paced modern game.

Yes he's played at FF before. With very few successes.

If he becomes an successful experiment probably Pettifer is the most likely players spot he'd take.

Would love it if he becomes our answer to our CHF problem.

From memory he tore us apart one day when he played CHF for the Bulldogs - he is not your traditional big marking strong throw your weight around CHF - more your mobile quickish lot of running with a strong overhead mark type of CHF.

Whatever position he plays - if it is up forward I hope he Richo and Browny have a ding dong battle to be the Club's leading goal kicker this year with over 60 to 70 goals each......

i think Bowden will play as a leading FFWD
Stafford will play in a deep pocket and getting into the goalsquare
Richo will play CHF
that gives us 2 big talls and a leading 3rd tall
supported by the class of Browny
and 2 speedy smalls that will crumb and apply defensive pressure in our fwd 50

I agree with you RT.

There are many peripheral reasons why Bowden will line up on the HF line, but the key ones are:
1. The Tigers have a hole at CHF that they haven't filled for years.
2. Last season they tried rotating Simmonds & Richardson at CHF, but Simmonds had to go into the ruck and Richo didn't have the engine for CHF.
3. Bowden's history is as a HF, 55 goals from 50 games is OK for a CHF.
4. I imagine him as an Arnold Briedis type CHF, mobile, needing plenty of room to run.

191cms, 91 kgs - probably needs another 5kg.

Richo can play either FF, letting Pattison find his feet in a FP, or
Richo in a FP, giving a fast leading FF like Limbach a go.
Time will tell.

Going by that you see the fwd line looking somthing like this am i right.

HF - Tambling Richo Krakouer

F - Brown P Bowden Stafford.

Where does that leave Pathetifer. ;D

In Krak's position.

Agree craig. Kayne was good at getting the ball into 50 but hopefully a slick midfield and a better forward line can reduce that role to a degree. At least Krak will tackle and hold the ball in there and he is also a handy crumber.

Oh no I' think I'm channelling Claw... pathetic excuse for a CHF... mutter mutter ferals...

GET THEE BEHIND ME CLAW!!

That's better. The punctuation keys are working again.

I can't imagine P-Bo playing any meaningful role in attack or midfield. His best position will be as a third tall in defence while Thursfield and others develop.

Paddy will find himself all over the park this year as a third tall forward, tall midfielder to upset balance and matchups as well as the odd run down back. Just cant see him settling into a stock standard role. 8)

Patrick may improve somewhat under Wallace, but his lack of heart concerns me. When the chips are down, he fades badly. Having said that, the same accusations were made of his brother (and by me, no less I gotta admit) and he managed to turn it around, so here's hoping that Patrick can too.

I'm gonna err on the side of caution and not expect too much from him. In saying that though, he's only got a one year contract, so he's gonna have to put something up.......otherwise its the end of his AFL career.

Why try and tune Pat Bodwen in too a jack of all trades, I have not seen him do anything in the back half that suggests that he has a future there.  He is a forward and we have a weaknesses that needs to be addressed.

He has played his best football as a mobile , almost roaming forward. Not like Ryan O'Keefe because Pat is a better contested grab but has no where near the aerobic capacity of O'Keefe.  I think that Paddy needs to mould himself on probably the best roaming forward of the 20 years Terry Daniher.

Just continually mobile and have the ability to lead at the man with the ball coming out of our back half.

We have not had a regular CHF since Benny Gale and IMHO he was  a ruckman who has played out of position for a fair portion of his footballing life.   Patty can make a name for himslef there.

Disagree. One game in his entire career has he been prepared to run all game. If Pettifer can develop his defensive game ... He is a much better option on a flank than Krak.

Yep, you guessed it folks, another thread being hijacked by those who would rid the world of Pettifer.

Dead horses beware around here! ;)

Maybe they'll interchange Krak and Petts, we all know that Krak doesn't have the areobic fitness to run a full game out. I'm hoping that having Joel's influence and advice, plus a coach that seems to believe in him, will help P Bowden to turn his career around and be a very handy Tiger this year and for a few after that.

Dont know whre he will play but seeing him at the
fans training nite he is one of the mosy skilful players
at Richmond. Give him a chance I reckon he will be the best
of the traded players.

FF - Roden Richo Staf
HF - Brown Bowden Pettifer
C - Lids Cogs Tivendale
HB - Bowden Hall Shultz
FB - Kellaway *smile* Hartigan
R Simmonds Tuck Newman
i Knoble Johnson Tambling Thursfield
