Give me a kid of Patto,s size who while not the best skilled by foot but makes up for it with his workhorse type work ethic who puts his body on the line over a player of similar ilk but has the footskills but not the heart ;)

Agreed - remember one of the greats IMO of the RFC could not kick when he first came to the club - but because of his work ethic and his willingness to play it tough, hard and protect our smaller players helped us win a number of flags - Kevin Sheedy. I think Pattison - if he can keep it up - will turn out to play a work-horse type role that Sheedy did (I am not saying he will be as good as Sheedy - but I would be absolutely rapt if he becomes as good)

Pattison looks to have more upside of the two at this stage and looks to be more the sort of ruckman that will suit the side we're building.

Had a chat with Patto during the cocktail night, while he acknowledges his lack of pace, he is continuing with his built up in sprint exercises. GO Patto.

Patterson is developing at a very steady and satisfactory pace. He reads the play well, has a wonderful work effect and can take a very strong mark. Also he has an engine that can keep him running for most of the day. He may or may not become an elite tab ruckman, but he is a natural footballer and at 198 cms that's pretty impressive. I'll take that any day over a ruckman that plain and simply thumps a ball during a ball up and then totally vanishes in general play. Our pick 16 in the 2004 draft is looking pretty solid.

Patto has had a very good year and it was primarily to see him in action that I went down to training to day.

To me his ability to time both run and leap is very good indeed. His enthusiasm was also terrific, although I thought the whole group trained very well. A lot has been said about his kicking but I thought he did pretty well with disposal today, and his awareness and concentration was also first rate. :clap :clap :clap

There has been talk of Wood coming to the Tigers. It makes some sense as he is potentially a very good player, apparently was a keen supporter before being drafted and he is coming out of contract at a club which is really in desperate straits as far as new contracts are concerned..

Aker should be the primary objective but, it is very likely that more than 1/3 of Brisb TPP is likely to be spent on players with back ended contracts who may no longer be on the list. i.e. Voss, Scott and Leppitch.

With such a loss of experience may be the door will be open for us to trade relatively experienced players, for whom we would pay their first years salary in exchange for Aker and Wood.

It is a tricky path but if we were offered Aker and Wood for Hall and Hartigen plus a $350,000 one year payment from our TPP..maybe??

Love Pato, but I think I could equally love Wood, very impressive the other night.Saw Wood play for the Suncoast Lions at the Gabba before the Rd 4 game, rucked very well an looked excellent for a ruckman when he went forward,I know a couple of the gentlemen I was sitting with were very impressed 8)

Guys the only way Knobel is playing AFL footy next is at Richmond.
Who would want Knobel??? Has no ability around the ground, takes on mark around the 50!! I would have rathered Ackland, at least he can mark or make a contest!!

Too harsh. If his ability and strengh is to tap the ball to our players' advantage then he is very valuable. Take alook at Spider and the amount of Hawthorn's centre clearances.

Otto's ability was his around the ground marking, but at the centre, he failed (taps to noone in particular).

No doubt, TW and crew will review Knobel's position. With Staffo retiring, we need another backup. I'm in favour of three, Simmo, Knobel and Patto. Simmo can be rested in FF or CHF, while the other two interchanging.
