Our last few games have been good efforts in spurts, but relapses like the doggies and st kilda games make games like last night extra important.50 points up halfway through a game is gold.We should have won by 75 points, not 38.Percentage will be critical this year as it is looking like there could be at least 4 teams vying for 8th spot come round 22.An extra 4 percent would have been helpful.I hope the coaching staff are drilling this into the players.

yep i think percentage has cost us a place in the finals at least once in our run of ninths.

it would also help if the AFL put us in our correct position on the ladder.

port have 12 points and we are on 14 points yet they are above us on the ladder!

THe draw will count against us no matter what because we should have won.

Now we are instantly below every team on the number of wins we should have been equal with.

While percentage is great to have, when you have a draw to your name it really doesn't mean much.

A draw helps when you have a poor percentage compared to teams at about the same place on the ladder so it's not helping us against Carlton and St Kilda.

Our percentage might help us if North Melbourne lose tonight and we get another game up on them next week.

Unless of course we are battling with Sydney, North or the Dogs for a spot in the 8. Having said that, I don't believe it will be a factor come the end of Round 22.....need to improve a fair bit to win enough games to make the 8 IMO.

Draws cut both ways, but I agree with your general sentiment. When you draw a game you should clearly have won, it definitely counts against you.

Percentage doesnt mean as much with the draw although I guess we're not that far away from North and Sydney who have also had a draw. Of course percentage is generally important which is why I am quite pleased the Tigers have fought on regardless of win or lose and havent had any major blowouts this year. Our percentage is actually better than 3 times above us on the ladder at the moment.

Good point Good One. I agree that percentage is a good indicator that we remain competitive. Even in past years where we have won as many games as we have lost we have had a poor percentage due to us getting blown away when we lose and not ramming home the advantage when we win.

Thus far this year we have been (mostly) good at remaining competitive, but would like to have seen us capitalise of the Bombers' terrible showing by belting them.

Good point you make golden one.

I did think much about the falling away of the advantage in that 2nd half.
My conclusion seems to always come back to our limited resources in midfield rotations. Once Foley, Tuck & Johnson get worn out during a game, the team does fall away.
In the Essendon game, it reflects itself in the loss of advantage. In the Geelong game, say, it is the difference between winning and losing.
To me, the only solution can be to build rotation options in the midfield.
The idea is to have the Richmond team running on an 8-12 cylinder engine, say like Hawthorn, rather than the 4-6 cylinder engine that it is currently running on.
