I feel compelled to write my first post after the horror weekend we all just witnessed. I attended the game, with some expectations, and was left gutted and generally disappointed by the effort my beloved Tigers displayed on Friday night. We were outplayed in all facets of the game, by a team at the peak of their football powers. I'm angry with the result, a result that can't be changed, but to read the negative comments on this site, makes my blood boil. There's no point laying the blame on certain individuals, it was a whole team effort, or lack of, that attributed to the smashing we received.
Then something happened in my life to put it all into perspective. The death of my grandad today made me realise that it's only footy. Life goes on. The death of a loved one, someone extremely close to me, is a million times more important than a game of sport. Be it a sport we all live and breathe. We still get to front up next week, to show some resolve, hopefully, unlike other people who won't be there to see it.
So please, don't jump of us, get behind the boys next week, and even if we lose, show some faith in the coaching staff and the players. They all need positive support, something that is seriously missing from the majority of people here, and hopefully we can be competitive, and give us something to be proud of. Go Tigers.

Welcome to PRE Pockets.  :)

Deepest sympathy on the loss of your grand dad.  :'(

I had a similar experience that's put things in a different perspective for me too.  I had some bad news about a family member's health.
It's partly the reason I started the thread I did about respecting the site and others.

It's sad when a loss, as depressing and horrible as it was, causes all consideration and respect for others, and the RFC to go out the window.  It's really sad when people turn on each other.

I'd still rather support a down and out Richmond than any other team no matter how successful they are.

I hope memories of your grandad comfort you and bring you much happiness always. :hearton

Luckily this year I feel like a different person.

I am not expecting big things from the Tigers. I have braced myself for the year ahead and I think that this will be another one of those years we had to have in order to look forward to a brighter future.

I am still excited about the footy, and it is great to see the Dogs use the ball so well, and in future years, I hope this will come to our fairly young side. I also liked the fight the Dogs had in them, even when they were up. No mercy.

Sorry to hear about your Grandad Pockets, I lost my Grandad not too long ago, he was a Tiger man.
