Amazing that you think with Ablett and Bartel our problems would be solved. We would be better but still not a top flight team. You are giving far too much credence to speculative tall picks taken outside of the top 20. Bar Rance & Jack R our last KKP pick inside 20 was schulz (if we counting Patto as a ruck) For Rucks you go back to Pat Steinfort and Ottens. That is our problem.
well said excellent post and accurate.not only do we not use many early picks on talls we turn over far to few to find diamonds in the rough. theres two or three ways to do it turn over a shedload full or use early picks or a modified comination of both. we do none.

I'm surprised you keep fighting Claw with these blind *smile* who can't see the *smile* from the shovel. no everything is rosy down here in Tigerland, lets keep following the same path that has lead nowhere for two decades and blame everyone else but who's responsible and talk up what they done at another club many moons ago, and once your proven right again Claw, let me be the first to say, it's always easy in hindsight you future forcasting faunicater!

i agree with you talon
there are a few people here that can see withouit the rose coloured glasses on
and agree that our lack of success is not just beacuse of poor coaches

Richmonds forward line did not convert the F50 opportunities very well last year. They were 12th in doing so based on each entry.
so we didnt get it in very often thats a stat in richos favour. when we did get it in we didnt score very often thats a stat against richo.
those two stats alone is an indicator of why we struggle to kick more than 12 goals a game and also shows one of the reasons why we came last.
it also shows that with so few entries we cant afford to waste any entry into the forward line. another tick against richo.

I believe the footy prospectus shows that over the last three years Richmond is equal first in forward efficiency. Perhaps some one can confirm? Again only assuming they get that figure by ascertaining scores per inside 50 entry. If that is correct and considering how haphazard and slow our inside 50's are it suggests we dont have a significant problem with our forward line posting a score! It does suggest the midfield may be a problem though!

just going by mojos assertion that we came 12 in this area last yr. it makes sense to when one considers how few goals a game we kick.

Forward efficiency just means that when the ball goes into our forward line, more often than not we score. Yet despite this statistic, we rarely kick over 100 points in a game. This indicates that our forward line is converting well from limited opportunities. IMO logic and observation tells me that we turnover a lot of the ball through the middle, the wings and flanks outside 50 metres. As every Richmond supporter knows, we tend to handball to players under pressure (lack of talk and skill), we also kick to players under pressure (lack of talk and skill, forwards not working hard enough to make space and playing outside the game plan (if there is one)). Much needs to improve this year, our forward line, whilst not perfect, is the least of our worries. I believe we are heading in the right direction (slowly).

Agreed.

There's also heaps of turnovers when the handballer doesn't follow up with the shepherd. A few need to be taught that the job isn't finished just because they've made the successful disposal. Watch Geelong carry the ball down by lines of players backing each other up with the shepherd after the pass.

and who would be the worst offenders of this.not richo or browny or pettrified god forbid.

our forward line is pathetic it has been for yrs. ot i think you msread the stats we are one of the worst teams when it comes to scoring efficiency. not only does it go in less than most teams we waste what ever oporunities we generate. hence a wooden spoon hence we struggle to kick more than 12 goals a game.
imo we are poor in most areas but our forwards in the main are lazy slow unskilled and dont know what chase tackle and one percenters are.i could go on.unfortunately our forwards fall into most of these categories.

well said claw

most of our goals against us are caused and created from a lack of defensive pressure rebounding from our slack ass fwd line

The stat quoted was "last 2 or 3 years equal first in forward efficiency" not equal first in forward inefficiency. Not my stats so I can't comment on their validity. My post still stands.
