Pick 27 Anthony Miles

Worked bloody hard off the ball to give an option....star

Just wills himself. Most (11) contested possessions and most clearances (7). Mind you Maric wasn't far behind with 10 and 6.

Ol Ivan is about the most predictable player we have, if it's against the top shelf , you know he will try but get beat , if it's the bottom half rucks hell flog em , an the rest good battle

Quiet last week but returned to his perpetual motion style again. Thanks again GWS for the gift!

Subbed off early last week for a reason. Been playing sore since the hawks game. Again good player management by our coaching staff.

Always on the bottom of every pack. How many head high tackle frees does he average per week? I still can't see how GWS let this guy slip past.

You can thank Sheedy for that as he never gave him a fair go. When Miles was given a game at GWS he played on Ablett and kept him to 23 possessions (his lowest for that year) while getting 20 possessions himself.

Team rule at GWS in those years if you get promoted to the Seniors you play two consecutive weeks. Miles was dropped the next game to make way for a more highly fancied high draft pick player.

Apparently at least three AFL teams rang his manager to express their interest him when he was dropped the next week.

The following season he suffered a few injuries and only played a few games and was delisted at seasons end.

All the current talk is about RFC win/loss ratio with Deledio in the side, but the same could easily be said about this kid. Was breaking the door down for months and months before finally getting his chance, which he took brilliantly.

I really love this kid he is a genuine midfield hard nut. He reminds me of a young Nathan Foley the way he plays. Hope the recruiters keep finding gems like him every draft.

Sounds a little like a bloke I used to work with. His name is Neil Brindley, he played 1 game for the Pies back in the day. That debut game Matthews put him on Healy the year he won the Brownlow, he was consequently towelled up and Matthews never played him again.
Interesting that Miles' manager let it get to the point of him being rookie listed if other teams were interested in him. I'm not complaining though, he makes GWS regret the decision every game he plays for us. His more highly fancied mates will be watching on next week, while he plays in his second finals series.

Tonight the Tigers midfield of one. No one else bothered. Great effort Milesy!

Yep did it all on his own. Was immense. At least we know we have one player who can handle real pressure. Need to find about 20 more

He kicked that goal from outside his usual range. Worked. Was aggressive. Close to our best.
