Is this coincidental, but Bolton and D Rioli were with Ralph Carr until May this year.
Now both tied to the Tigers long term, with a different manager negotiating it.
No fuss. Just worked it through and signed. Anyone notice a difference in approach?

Shai is a star, a game breaker. He has the potential to be a tiger great
Of course his skill level is better than KBs and so it should be with the junior pathway he came through , the training and development players get now.
However using that to compare him to KB is not valid. It’s like saying Dawn Fraser was no good because her times wouldn’t get her close to a national team now.
You look at what the player did in the era he played in and during that time KB was a champion footballer, one of our best ever. If he played now he would be a champion player as well because he possessed two things that you can’t teach in a footballer. He just kept on getting the ball and he had an eye for a goal as good as any player i have ever seen.
Shai is awesome but he has a long way to go before he is even mentioned in serious conversation as the best ever 29.
For the same reason (different preparation, different degree of focus on athletic preparation and skill development
through junior career) you can’t compare their gongs and say one was better than the other.
But I wasn’t doing that. I was simply saying that the sum of all of those differences made Shai the better player.
We seem to agree.

Thanks RM. It is impressive that we kept and extended everyone we wanted and that no one wanted to leave.

I think Shorty might also have extended during this year?

Bolton has the same manager as Marlion Pickett. Not sure if this is still the case, but not sure he charges Marlion for his efforts. So no hidden agendas or self interest.

Bit of a legend is Anthony VdW

We will want to extend Balta, Pickett and Ralphsmith but it wouldn’t surprise if Castagna, Grimes and Tarrant also retired and a couple of the WA boys sought to extend their distinguished careers by seeking long term contracts at home.

The real important ones to take us to to that 2028/2029 period are Balta (4-5Y), Ralphsmith (2-3Y), Bauer if he shows enough early next year, Biggy and Pickett (For the F/S aspect ;)). Dow and Mansell I'm uncertain on until I see what they provide in 2023.

Yeah I have similar thoughts to yours, definitely need Balta, Pickett, Ralphsmith extensions. Broad and McIntosh depends on where players like Banks, Brown are at this year, have they developed enough to get a game or two and look likely to be AFL Footballers? Or have Kaleb Smith, Seth Campbell, Steely Green gone past them? Time will tell :)

Some massive undervaluing of Bartlett’s speed, skill, reading of the play, ball winning ability, versatility, resilience and endurance.
You could put KB of that era in a time machine and lob him into today’s game, no problem. Hart also.
If Shai gets anywhere near that level, we will be doing extremely well to have such a player.

I rate Shai highly and am rapt with the signing. Star. Time will tell if that turns into legend status (let alone an MCG statue!)
