I only hope that Shai will one day be mentioned as a true equal to KB. That way we'll have had another generational player at our club. Imagine having a player of KB's ability for another 8 years!

KB was a better kick for goal.
778 goals 777 behinds has K.B. at 50 accuracy and that's ignoring any complete misses. Not sure that makes him anything special in the accuracy dept of any era.

Super star player of any era the old K.B. game n tactics were way different back then compared to the current game. Dislike the constant comparisons of players over different eras as it's simply impossible to compare the way the game was played and all the professionalism n size differences.

K.B. was a champion of his era n Shai is tracking strongly toward being a champion of this era, that's all that matters

Shai’s inaccuracy has more to do with ball drop technique than confidence.
I also notice he tends to rush the snap where if he took the one extra step to balance, he’d have more control of the ball.
Might be travelling too fast for his own good.

*NB KB was a magnificent kick for goal from all angles.
Shai will never get close to that ability
Don’t agree there DA. When kicking a set shot from a long way out say 50 meters or from any distance on his right he will take a set shot directly at goal. His results are very good when he approaches in this way.
His problems have come with the shots from the left where he uses the ‘round the corner.’
There agree he doesn’t line up at all with the ball going off his boot and gives him an inconsistent result.

KB was a consistently good shot at goal.
Some say that was because he had never learnt to pass.

Heresy! In 1974 KB amassed 607 kicks and had 40 handballs. What more do you want!!!! The same year Sheedy amassed 381 kicks and had 176 handballs! Clearly could not kick!

As far a particular season that KB had given the amount of games he already had amassed 1980 stands out.

415 kicks
59 handballs
84 goals 67 behinds
Frees for 38 frees against 66

Shai has plenty to aim for IMO.

you couldn't be more wrong,

Shai's issue comes back to his ball drop action & the fact he leans back when kicking.

The very best, Plugger, Dunstall etc would nearly smash their nose with the kicking knee they got over the ball so much.

I cant explain Franklin :)

Shai's main goal-kicking problem seems to me that he tries to kick the cover off snap shots.

Referring to his set shots and his tendency to use the around the corner when kicking from the left side of the ground, in which he seems to have no confidence, but uses anyway. Agree that he pulls off the ball with disaster inevitably to follow.
That is the root of his problem. As his game grows he will begin to realise just how much time he has and I expect he will chose his kicking options more carefully.

His snap, in play, shots are actually his best outcomes.

Straight set shots, the ball goes everywhere on the run in, and he leans back. High ball drop. Terrible. He actually looks nervous himself on set shots.

Check the latest training vision out. The ball moves everywhere on his set shot approach.

He’s one of the worst set shot kicks in the league.

To now, everything else is fantastic. Love im. But I’ve been harping on for 3 years now about his set shot ability. It’s his number one weakness - for now.

I have had a look through the AFL site (Sara Olle) and the Club site and didn’t see any recent ‘training vision live’, apart from a little in support of Shai’s new contract.
Can you be more specific about where I can find it. Thanks.

KB was a better kick for goal.
Stats might not reveal how good KB was at kicking goals in the last quarter to clinch games. An absolute freak. So durable and in an era where every opposing side sent someone after him to try to kill him.

I hope Shai one day can be spoken of in terms of a career comparison.

Both very fond of the Tiger Army adulation!

The more shots on goal you have, the higher percentage of shots missed
KB's time series figures don't help your case.
