Pick 29: Shai Bolton

I have posted before that a number of years ago I had a connection to someone who worked in the player agents field but he isn't in the industry any longer. What I learned from him was that there are an enormous number of enquiries and off the record discussions that go on about different players and the vast majority of them never happen.
The other thing I learned was that the bottom scraping media types use the player agents for information, some have loose tongues and some don't.
It may well be true that Freo has made an enquiry about Shai and it also could be true that the suns have an interest in the Riolis. However what is also very possible is that they won't go anywhere and nothing happens.
Personally I don't get too worried about it. It also wouldn't surprise me if there are others around like Collingwood or Melbourne having enquired about Tom Lynch or Noah Balta as examples.
I am sure our club is putting out feelers as well.

Not sure how much of what is reported is true but it certainly does bring up visions of vultures picking over a carcass.

The industry seems to think we are ripe for the picking. Will be an interesting off season.

All white on the night??? Still got Nigel n perhaps Foosh n then we could maybe fudge things a tiny little bit with Liftmykiltup if his knee's o.k. n Muttley as well. Could also pick up a couple of newbie indigenous players with all our draft picks or poach Wombat back from the Moggies.
Lots of Dreamtime options available, just depends on how creative we want to get.

We simply cannot afford to have all of Baker, Bolton, Rioli leave. But I reckon there's a good chance we lose two of those three. We will be North 5 years ago if all of them go. Very interesting times ahead. Tread carefully.

Agree Scoop. Draft picks sound great in theory but you can rip these players out of your team and expect to bounce back just through the draft. Like you said Norf is the example of what not to do.

We don't need to discuss draft picks for Bolton with Fremantle when hes under contract for 4 more years. Zero need to gamble unlike when they're out of contract/coming out of contract.

Top 3 player for top 3 player trade would be about it, which is where this one falls over anyway

100% Sinner. Just space-filler garbage. Daniel is contracted for three more years and Shai four. They're not going anywhere. Everyone needs to calm down.

Bakes might leave, which would suck. Graham might go, which we'd survive. Short can go, which would be good for us.

Bolton might leave, or Rioli. Or Young. Or Hopper. Or Ralphsmith.
Someone might leave and it could be someone who has been in the media or it might be someone completely different.

Xander (Alexander) is about 20 or 21. I know someone who taught him at primary school and they said he was in grade 6 in 2015 or so.
FWIW the person said he was a great kid then, not at all what we may have expected.
I assume his dad helped him out to get the gig.
 
If they want to go, let them go, they should stick around and help the club rebuild, but if that's not their priority, bring on the picks.
