Pick 29: Shai Bolton

Plenty of twists and turns to come. Trade is too juicy for all parties for the whispers to go away.

In the end it might be a “family homecoming” angle for Shai, which is good optics.

For Richmond it’ll be “facilitating” Shai going home despite current denials. Also good optics.

Freo gets to be the one who scores a marquee player.

Winners all round. Just seems like the right time.

Of course Richmond would need adequate compensation and that’s the question mark.
Do we ever get adequate compensation, not that we have many leave.

I guess the disappointing thing about all this Shai to Freo thing, is that it was initiated by Boltons camp, they were the ones asking whether there was a chance of the move happening. Basically meaning Shai wouldn’t mind getting out.
Would have been extremely disappointing if true. Fortunately it's not true. Is there a gun WA player who has not been linked back to Freo or West Coast at some stage in their career? In most cases it's total BS. And certainly not when contracted for the next 5 years.

Passage of play in last qtr (forward pocket) was putrid. Gave up. He has nobody with dazzle to wax with other than Rioli but he is behind the play

Love Shai , but apparently he is on a lot of money so needs to be more consistent!

I think needs to play 75% mid

IMO looks to have checked out
looked like he wasnt bothered to chase at times

Needs to spend the bye thinking about what he wants to be. Poor today, tries to do the spectacular when he just needs to do the basic. Should be in top 5 players in the comp. But isn’t and never will be unless he recalibrates how he plays.

I know this is unpopular on here, but I think Shai is far too comfortable about his role in the team.
with the money he is supposedly on, there is not enough consistency week in week out. Not enough possessions, not enough goals, too many points & misses & far too much lairising.
Can he at look like he is interested?

In the old days he would have gone back to the reserves to work on areas in need of development.

Deal of a lifetime sitting on his manager’s table.

Copped a heavy concussion, team can’t string two coherent possessions together, weather is grey and oppressive.

Meanwhile the Fremantle Doctor breezes through the windmills of his mind

I'm listening.
4-5 picks in the top 20 (including our own) if we play our cards right this off-season.

Naturally this will trigger immediate calls for caps on first round picks for a single club

whilst also setting up our next flag run
