Pick 29: Shai Bolton

Freo have 10, 13 and 15 currently I think.

We could say that one has to be a top 5 pick. They trade 10 and 13 to West Coast for their top 5 pick.

3 and 15 for Bolton, West Coast give 10 for Baker.

2, 3, 10, 15.
Ooooh NOM.

Never takes a the first option.
Always tries to take the man on and gets caught.
Then looks at the umpire for a free

I’m nearly ready to change my mind on a trade for Bolton if he wanted out. And if we could maximise a deal.
“Hollywood” Bolton is good with the ball running away from an opponent, or dodging and weaving to kick a miraculous goal point.
Too often tries the near impossible kick for goal, misses. Then misses too may sodas in front of goal. Then perves on himself on the big screen for the next 5 minutes.
More often than not when the ball is heading towards the opposition forward line, he’s just loping effortlessly 15 metres behind.no desperation in his game very often.
He looks like a human highlight reel when in full flight. Then bludges.
Poorly disciplined, deflates his teammates with his petulant and entitled attitude.
We give WC our 1st and Bolton for Harley Reid
Or if Baker wanted out, Baker and Bolton.
Or our 2 second round picks and Bolton for Harley Reid.
Actually I’m not fussed what we give or get as long as it’s fair. (In our favour, no mates rates)

There is zero chance, actually a less than zero chance, that wc would entertain trading out Harley Reid, he is a generational talent, and will dominate the competition for the next decade, along with N Daicos

So the trade is back on?
What does Tom Morris say?
He said Bolts and Bakes have gone back home for this 5 day break and always a chance Freo could speak to them both. I don't care anymore. Whoever wants out can get out. Better for us.

Yes. Bizarre that people think that he'll be traded.

The only hope I see for Shai is an intense focus on straight line running drills. Show him some tapes of Matthew Knights or Geoff Raines as an example of a midfielder who delivers long and fast to a forward.

He may not have it in him.

But we are all totally sick of the stop prop dancing that confuses everyone, followed by dinky around the corner hail marys.

It's time for good coaching to straighten him up.

Or trade.

When the rumour about Freo chasing Bolton came out, Freo denied it and said Bolton's management approached them.
Not sure that’s right.
One media outlet suggested that. Bolton’s management said he was perfectly happy at Richmond and had no wish to leave.
The idea that we should trade our best player, who is being played out of position, is garbage.

Take the picks and run. We need leaders and players that will set standards going forward. He ain’t it.

We need to bring stars in , not get rid of them and Shai is one of the very few we have in the right age bracket , in fact he maybe the only one we have , however this bloke needs to be better more often , he’s good is as good as any , he’s bad is simply insipid .

I think Shai’s future at Punt rd is a simple call for the decision makers , if he’s invested and “ will” do the hard yards over a couple of seasons when we’ll most likely have most loses then wins then he stays , if he wants to chase Freos first flag then cash in on the picks Freo will have to give up

Couldn't agree more. Bolton is inconsistent as and also seems a bit of a moaner at times. Hate to say it but Hill is a better player.

I’m tired of reading comments like, “If he’s invested” - any footballer pulling on the Richmond jumper from the top to the bottom SHOULD be invested in playing for the club FULLSTOP.

If a player is not - trade. Get that person out asap. They are a cancer and poor sides with poor club cultures suffer more from players who are not invested in the club and their team mates than through lack of skills.

I believe our new coach believes in these values and it will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season.

Who stays and why. Who are traded and why. Who retires and who is selected to put on that famous jumper and play for the Tigers.

I can't remember where I did hear it, but I'm sure they said Boltons management enquired.

Yes they said it but Bolton’s management didn’t agree they said it. At the time it read a little like the media had got no where with its story and were trying to give it a little more oxygen than it deserved.

If that's accurate then it makes me think that Bolton's commitment to RFC is waning.
If he does want out then I would drop him to the VFL side for the remainder of the season. Bolton playing in the seconds won't harm his trade value.
I accept that is a rather simplistic solution but playing for the Yellow and Black should only be privileged to those who are willing to commit to the cause through this rebuilding stage.
You can bet your last dollar that Tim Taranto is working his arse off to improve the Club's on field performances.

A bit of light on the subject is very helpful. Thanks Jack.
