Pick 29: Shai Bolton

He's got the potential to light it up but I still don't trust him.

We would be taking a massive gamble bringing him into a final.

We're about to find out whether Shai has rounded out his game.

Happy to see him get games and should be played 3-4 weeks
Kid can play and he will be a very good player in the future just hope its with Richmond

Super excited to see the improvement in Shai, he has a great month or so in the VFl. While he's a second year player he is still very young, being only a month older than Naish and 3 months older than Higgins.

That puts it into perspective a bit , still a kid for sure

looking forward to seeing him play. hope he takes a leaf out of Riolis book. and reads it.

Bit of pressure on him.
Another half ass effort like last time may not see him again.

He's earned his spot. His last 5 weeks have been excellent, during which time he's laid 31 tackles at more than 6 per game.

Yep, definitely has earned his spot. Done all that's asked of him. He does lose concentration at times but that's just something he needs to keep working on. More AFL level exposure is good for him at this stage.

At the very least he can read the words Rioli has written on his wrist and follow it.

Think playing alongside Daniel may see him take his chances after being being really underwhelming in the first two games this year
Pressure indicator may go up a notch on Saturday night

Lets hope so.

It'll be great for him to judge his own performance and impact based on his last game at the level.
That should build greater trust in our coaching staff that they're looking out for him. He's being rewarded and recognised for his effort and improved form.

Like what I’ve seen in recent times from Bolton, big thing is his still only 19 , doesn’t turn 20 till December, if he gets the right mix of his natural flair and commitment to every contest I have no doubt he’ll be a player.

Not sure why , however I have a feel he will leave Punt Rd at the end of the season.

I get the same feeling. Back to WA.
Who/what do we want in return.....?

Has put contract talks on hold.

Is definitely looking to go somewhere where he will get more opportunities.

If he dont like tbe jumper he can *smile* off.Sick of these punks telling the club what they want, he should just get a bloody kick 1st , so far done zip...

I think we are being a bit harsh on the young man.

He (Ralph) said last year that they wouldn’t look at a new contract till the end of this year - can’t see anything changing from this. It’s a gamble to see whether he could push his price up based on good form which hasn’t happened to date.

Remember it wasn’t that long ago that he would have been gifted games based on talent alone to fast track him like we did with Rioli. Now he is faced with having to break into a Premiership team and be able to keep his spot. The good news is he has produced at VFL level and is back into the team.

I hope he snags a goal, lays tackles and picks up a doz kicks.

He is only 19

like the arrogance, is still young but from a remuneration perspective has to be paid what he is worth and a little on the upside to his potential. He cant come in and say pay me as the next Eddie Betts but to date delivering Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls standards in the seniors.

Makes for inserting sub plot to hopefully going deep again in September.

I'd be Interested to know what facts you have to come to this harsh advice.
