Pick 29: Shai Bolton

Saw nothing that his boosters were promising. Saw nothing in his early appearances that gave me any confidence. If he is on minimum wages kept another year but he doesn't look like he he has it.

Whilst he didn't have a good game and that last kick for goal was a shocker, people are way too short-sighted and looking for a scapegoat. Look at the big picture. He is 3 months older than Higgins, he is still very young. He is not the reason we lost the game tonight. We were terrible in the 3rd qtr being goalless and overall i can't think of many really good players over the course of the game. I don't like to blame any one player but Castagna's 0.5 is enough said (& he is one of my favourite players). In saying that, Stengle has been more consistent over the last few months at VFL and probably should of been given the nod over Bolton. I do still like Shai & believe he has star qualities; keep the patience people. Remember the bagging & calls & delisting of Sheds?

Was evident in his junior days, I'm surprised the coaching staff didn't iron that out early in the piece.

It is not really possible, Changing kicking techniques once players get to their teens is close to impossible, Thought he was very disappointing on the back of some great VFL form.

His hindrance us veing drafted too early.
Will be a gun but not for us.
Trade time.

With 3.35 to go in the last qtr, he jumps in the air for no reason and allows the GWS player time and space

I’d like to see Stengle get his position while Butlers out, however I’d like to see Bolton get another go against the Saints and play more up the ground.

I agree totally. Give him another try. He must play to our strengths.

If he thinks he's worth more then the minimum he's dreaming
I'll take freos 2nd rounder any day

I think what both Shai and Corey highlight is that the difference in intensity and gut-running required at AFL is far greater than that at VFL level. Both really stand out in this regard. Not 'Richmond' players at this stage imo.

Last night showed how ludicrous some of the claims on the Short thread that this guy is a higher priority re-signing. Not a chance that this guy is higher up the pecking order than Short.

Has potential but so far does not show it anywhere near enough.
