While there's been a bit said about List Management (or lack of), It's obvious that some players on our List either have given up false hope, taken too much time, effort, money, opportunity and we've had bugger-all in return, or these players are still lacking the basic fundamentals, let alone the polish to take the next step.
Some players promise so much but still after 3 or 4 or 5 years have yet to show very much improvement. The questions need to be asked
1. Are we drafting the wrong player? ie.Some have skills but seem to have little desire, or some have the desire but poor skills,
2. Have we the right (enough) people in Player Development roles?
3. Are we prioritizing Player Development?ie enough funding, specialist coaching, specialist numbers/player
4. Enough time and emphasis spent with players needing skills etc outside "normal" training sessions?
5. Medical, rehab, conditioning up to scratch? are players confident in recovery and treatment?
It's just that some of our players are still going through a Development stage 5 or 6 years on, what's missing?
What are your thoughts?
