Players cop a blogging - chapter 2

and thats where we cant afford to be sentimental in who we dump or move on. We have been drowning in debt and poor performance for years and with a window opening we need to capitalise and make seriously tough decisions. Decisions that will see us draft for a tilt at a GF rather than qucik fills as we have done in the past. We seriously need to monitor those who want to and those who cant.

We need to move those who cant quickly so they have time to develop with the current group of players who want to play for the Richmond Football Club.

what amazese is he only picked two richmond players.
if being there for a gf gig is the criteria half our players should be on his list.in fact including rookies i would label 25 players list cloggers.

25?

Jog on mate. Boring.

25 claw? That would be 6-8 a year for 3 years. In 2 years time and going forward the first live pick won't be until 6 or 11 for a few of those years. Who and how do think that we replace all of these with? Do we have anyone with trade value that one of the new teams need or are all of our players not good enough? Do we have to trade a Deledio or Foley in 2-3 years time to get 2 high draft picks?

It's OK to say get rid of them but there has to be some forward planning on their replacements. Plus how do we know how any of the draft picks turn out. It's not as though we will be getting a top 4 pick for some time.

Plus it means spending at least another 5 years at the bottom of the ladder.

Yeah, and some losing culture that would create for all these kids!

Agree.
If it had been done properly, the time to do it would have been 2005 & 2006, as Hawthorn did.
Now, we have our main boys in that 20-24yo age group, we're they really need to perform.
So now we go for it as best we can.

Yze and Holland were the other two

Geez I could name a few more than that. So could Claw - and that would be my point - as much as the "Clawsy's of this world" gripe about RFC ( :nopity ), change his colours and the message would stay the same - all clubs have these types of players on a list of 38-40 .
