PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Opened this morning's HUN and saw Garry Lyon's "Clog & Dagger" on page 90. In the article, Lyon specifically identifies and lists the names of individuals in each team's list that basically should be given the "flick".

Whether you agree with his view or not, it immediately raised the question, "What's the difference between Lyon identifying and listing individual players names, in a publicly circulated newspaper, compared to bloggers on a fansite. I haven't seen anything different to Lyon's article to the very "worst" of PRE, or any other site.

How would you like to be young Adam Schneider, trying to reestablish his career at the Saints, to be read this morning's paper, and have his name listed down by Lyon as effectively a "complete and utter waste of time by the club".

Courtney Johns is another. 23yo & 194cm, and a FF. He struggles to get a game because he plays in exactly the same position as the Club Captain. Johns at 23yo is still another year before his clicking time but can't gather experience because Lloyd plays in his position. And Lyon has listed Johns as clogging up the Essendon list.

So Lyon is allowed to do this "untouched" while bloggers cop a slap. This is an outrage. It's like the umpire giving a technical free kick to the opposition directly in front of goal when exactly the same thing happened to our boy at the other end not 30 seconds ago.

Personally, I can't see why all the names listed don't collectively begin a group legal action against Lyon. His article is effectively a Libel.

Benny Gale & Joel Bowden, your time is now.
