I've always considered the way English Premier League clubs "loan" players out to other clubs as an interesting use of players who are available but not getting opportunities. Would it work in the AFL?

I wouldnt think so. English League consists of different divisions and there is also the opportunity to loan out to teams in other countries. In other words there's a lot more players we're dealing with here.

Anything is possible.

I'm sure there are a few factors to work out though.

Salary Cap

Player exchanges

If we lent e.g. Deledio to St.Kilda, Lyon's spiel might go

"Sorry Brett, could you leave the room for a minute? I'm about to talk tactics."
...
(calls Deledio inside)

"Alright men, stick to the gameplan and good luck. Brett, you'll be on the ball all day. Just kick it to Roo & Kosi."

The tank factor would be interesting. Look Melbourne, we'll loan you Deledio, Tambling and Cousins but just until the end of the season or until you win 5 games OK?

sorry i dont like loans of players because Loan means there a huge chance of them coming back.

This is the most ludicrous notion that has ever entered the mind of a football fan. Mark my words, take away the affinity we have towards our jumper and players and you leave very little. Scenario: An injury stricken Collingwood poach a few strong Richmond players towards the end of the season and we find ourselves wanting Collingwood to win for those players...... the beginning of the end :'(
If that's the only way Richo could get a flag, it would be a hollow victory.
