Re: players that shouldnt be there

J.Bowden, P.Bowden, Hall, Jackson, Johnson, Kingsley, Knobel, Krakouer, Tivendale either haven't taken us anywhere or won't take us anywhere....not sure about Patto or Moore yet

dont know why you are hell bent on criticising newman so much momentai?
he is in our best 10
Not critising but recognizing that he is one of only a few tradeable players who might just be valued highly enough to get us a Wood.
sorry mate, you are wrong. you have been criticising him all week.
:fing32 Simply pointing out that as a back pocket player, he has some flaws.

Re: players that shouldnt be there

The list is too long, so i thought i would express my thoughts of what GAME PLAN i would have if i was coach to win games:

Richmond to recruit from a nationwide bikie gang.
Why??

Firstly:
8 Burley bikies that will go onto the field to smash the top players of the oppostion team. I would select the 18 22 playes we need to hit hard (break legs etc).
I would put 1 burley bikie per game. I am sure they would be suspended for life, but it should still mean we should win at least 8 games ;D

Secondly (and finally)
Hopefully the oppostion gets too scared of the above situation. If not:
Nothing like a drive by shooting up of players place to put the fear of god into them :hihi

Jake is fast and hard at it but he can't kick.

2/3 - I'm not going to quote Meat Loaf lyrics, but as we don't have a whole lot of the first two in the rest of our list, surely it would be wiser to put a bit of work into Jake and his kicking than just dismissing him out of hand?

I won't accept the "can't teach an old dog new tricks' line as he's hardly an old-timer.

Ms Tantie.

I reckon King has to stay purely because we have so few players with mongrel in them. I'd rather get rid of Howat.

In reality, we'll probably get rid of at least 8, hopefully more. At stage (depending on contracts) the outs should be - *smile* (retired), Krakouer, Hall, Kingsley, Hyde, Hartigan, Jackson, King and Knobel (if he can't get over injuries and prove that he should be retained in the second half of the year). The future of Brown will also be interesting.

All the doom and gloom at the moment does have a bright light at the other end. Following is an assessment of our list in 2009 and why I believe we need patience till then to reap the rewards. Please correct any errors in regards to playing years.

2009
Deledio - Entering his 5th year
Tambling - Entering his 5th year
Foley - Entering his 5th year
JON - Entering his 4th year
Schulz - Entering his 6th year
Pattison - Entering his 5th year
Meyer - Entering his 5th year
Mcguane - Entering his 4th year
Raines - Entering his 6th year
Polo - Entering his 5th year
Polak - Entering his 8th year??
Edwards - Entering his 3rd year
Riewoldt - Entering his 3rd year
Connors - Entering his 3rd year
Collins - Entering his 3rd year
Hughes - Entering his 4th year
Peterson - Entering his 3rd year
Thursfield - Entering his 6th year
Casserly - Entering his 5th year
White - Entering his 5th year
Picks 1, 17, 18 ?? - Entering their 2nd years.
Senior players - Simmonds, Newman, Coughlan.

In 2009 we will have

5 x 3rd year players
3 x 4th year players
8 x 5th year players
3 x 6th year players
4 x 2nd year players
3 x Senior players

That will give us 22 players with a minimum 3 years experience, a potential superstar in his second year and two other early round draft picks also in their second years. Add to that whatever other youngsters we pick up in the 2008 national draft and things are looking very good!!!

Hopefully by then the club will have delisted, traded or retired the rest as they have clearly shown they are not up to bringing the club success.

Following players should be traded for either other senior players eg. Ruck or big bodied midfielders or earlier draft picks.
J.Bowden – Pettifer – Krakouer – Tuck – Hall – P.Bowden??

Is that you FUD, thats an actual good post a positive post, just looking through all those names it does look like a good side, no apparent duds! add some more picks as u said over the next 2 drafts and Woolah we're finally there could it really be?.... :cupgold

Rd 1 08
B Raines Thursfield Mcguane
HB Bowden Polak Casserly
C Polo, a big big star from the west*, Tambling
HF Brown Riewoldt Deledio
F Pettifer Schulz Hughes
R Simmonds Coughlan Foley
Res Kruezer* Meyer Oaklie-Nicholls & Richardson
Em Edwardes Newman & Pattison ::)

Joel Bowden will hopefully move on the wing where he plays his best football.

Chris Newman will be captain, Nathan Brown will finally retire, Carlton may get Kruezer, I hope Coggy is back on his feet and Richo will play on.

Some of the posts here are delusional at best, some of you deserve to be locked up
When there only a handful of trades every year I don't know how some of you expect to offload 3 fringe players in a bottom side for reasonable return.

Rumour of Krak going to Port, may get a 3rd rounder at best, would be nice to get a 2nd rounder but I can't see it
I'd trade a 2nd rounder to Brisbane for Wood, he'll be worth it

Gaspar retired, Bowden to take his place on the vets list which frees up a spot
I expect 4 selections in the draft and 1 PSD pick so 4 more spots to free up, would expect that would come from Krak, Hall, Tivendale, Kingsley, Hartigan & Knobel. Jackson & Moore at risk but I have a feeling Wallace would rather keep them. That's 8 names, expect no more than 6 to go including Gaspar.

No need to make rash changes, better to keep a few on the list to give another chance in 2008, then clear another 5-6 out for next years draft.
