anyone who thinks pattison will become a good AFL player is conning themselves. He runs like a robot and couldnt kick a footy to save his own life

Patto has been forced in at the deep end and I reckon he should be cut a bit of slack. He did a couple of nice things that showed a good footy brain and awareness last night. He has plenty of time to develop before he should be written off.

At least as player from that all important 2004 draft he is still getting a game. What I would like to know is where the hell is Danny Meyer?

Still not the worst............ this time is great development and each week he is trying to impliment the lessons learned. He's no gazelle, but he isn't slow either. I'm more than happy to suspend any judgement until next season - no improvement then fair enough, but I reckon he is improving right now, just small signs. :)

Agreed, Patto can't play....and where is Meyer, we were told by the coach that this guy had silky skills in the midfield....another Miller goof up no doubt....

doesnt matter how old he is he still cant kick and when he is 25 he still wont be able to kick.Look at replays of this years games opposition teams are happy for pattison and *smile* to get the ball in the defensive end because theres a good chance it will be a turnover

I remember a certain benny gale having certain question marks about him,Very similar to YOUNG Patto.Patto isnt the problem.

Thread topic talks about players - but is actually a diatribe on Pattison. ???

He does run a bit like a robot. He let go with one nice drop punt last night but usually his kicking is poor to disgraceful. Still, one nice drop punt- that's an improvement.

He is quite fearless and honest in his endeavours. We don't have enough players with these qualities.

Unlike some of his eminently gifted teammates, Swampy is not too important to chase. That's one of the reasons he's not running games out. He has to pick up after our many champions. And he does it often.

He's been forced to play the #1 ruck role for three weeks (okay, he shared it last night). A role to which he's not naturally suited IMO. But he's toiled admirably against more experienced opponents. He does not shirk, unlike say, Graeme Polak, another unsuited to the ruck role but for different reasons.

Patto is still very slim. Totally raw-boned. He has a willingness to collide with opposition players (unsuited to the modern game, I agree). Once or twice this year he's gone into a pack and taken the ball out of the hands of a dwarf. If he'd just punch em in the head at the same time it's a great play.

If we can get Patto to gain some muscle mass and improve his stamina, he can be valuable for us. If he can keep improving his skills, he can be a good player one day. But that day does seem a long way away at the moment.

Meanwhile there are a dozen or more blokes wrongly getting an AFL game for Richmond who can learn a lot from him.

Patto is not the fault we lost but I agree I have seen nothing in him to warrant his selection at all let alone so high at pick 26.
