Playing list/future/looking long term (merged)

are we adressing the lists deficiencies in a structured and orderly manner and the answer to both these questions is no. i am certain our approch to drafting has been adhock with no long term plan in place to overcome our deficiencies.

What makes you certain Mr Claw? How can you say that we haven't been trying to address certain qualities? How are you so sure that things have been done in an ad hoc manor and not structured and orderly? I dare say neither you, me, nor 99% of the people on these boards will know the real truth, because we simply don't have the access to the clubs inner sanctum that would answer these questions. You may disagree with the strategy, and you, and everyone else, has the right to. But it's a big, big statement to assume that the club has no real strategy in how they are addressing list needs.

I equate many of the responses I see here like someone who has been dumped at the alter on the day of their wedding. Now they've got a new partner, and a new family, who want to get to know them, but they're too gunshy to open up. There's a distinct lack of trust (not without reason), hopefully that'll change in the next 12 mths or so.

General, from where I am sitting the rumblings aren't about the future of our young brigade, but are more concerned of the same old, same old usual suspects, that continually get a game and do not step up to the plate week in, week out.  The players (leaders) of the club are not delivering, are not doing the hard stuff to rattle the opposition, are not smashing the daylights out of them, are not spilling the oppostions blood on the arena, are not giving them bone shattering physical intimidation to make them think twice to go for the ball, and are not verbally getting into the oppositions ear to haggle them every moment they can, I can go on with more.  The game is won by the leaders, the 1st tier group of the club and this is not happening, and then the roll on effect rubs onto the the remainder of the side, this is when we can measure and improvement in the side, right down to our 3rd tier of players.

I agree with you that we are lacking leaders, but if you go read some posts on the boards (Eg harry's one or example, you'll see plenty of people righting off our recruiting as useless. Kane tries, but I don't know if it's natural for him. Joel looks the natural leader out of the group we have, but is a bit too unaccountable at times, and isn't really known for his physicality. We need a ricciuto / voss / hall (barry) type of guy who can make our young guys walk that little taller.

Hi Gus,

I don't see where anybody is disputing Wallace's mandate, let alone the end of the world.
As I see it, we've completed season '05, seen a new group of players drafted, watched or read about the off-season, and we are now making an appraisal of what we've seen.
Many of us didn't have great expectations of the start to this season, but it has started nonetheless, and it now gives us an opportunity to assess where the team is at.
I'm absolutely sure that the same is being done in the Tiger War-room. Wallace's comments over the last 3 weeks have alluded to much the same. He has referred to leadership, skill-levels, desperation as factors that the boys have had to reassess in these last few weeks. He's thinking about it, we are too.

I see this as our opportunity to give our message.

My message is simple.
The RFC's future lies with its ability to quickly & continually recruit the best junior footballers available to fill every position in the shortest possible lead time, and to leave no stone unturned in recruiting those juniors.

It's a challenge, not the end of the world.

Ahhh Phantom ever the logical one.

My post wasn't in response to yours or many other, but reading all this rubbish about not winning a game for the year, suggesting Wallace is ignorant of our problems just wears thin after a while. You know the ones that are quick to tell us the problems, but continually fail to provide a viable alternative.

I think a few suffer from the Chicken little syndrome ;D

Well they just mention on Channel 10 that young Gibbs wont be eligible to go under the father son rule to the crows....he looks an absolut ripper!!!! Bring on the draft picks!!!!!!!! :clap

So you would like to finish last Eyeball to pick up Gibbsy?

Yes.....yes i would.....imagine Lids, Gibbs, Bling, Meyer, Cogs, Tuck, Oakley Nichols......must take the best available. However, Im predicting we will have a pick at a good KP prospect aswell... could have a few early picks come seasons end,... dont worry about that.

i know when im right there are many things that point to miller not understanding where the list is at and to a lesser degree wallace i wont go into them now but will tomorrow.as i have to hit the sack.

my RFC  team of the future looks like this

BACKS: Raines.....McGuane...Thursfield
H-BAck; Hartigan...Schulz.......Casserley
CENTR: Oakleys...Deledio......Tambling
H-FWD; Meyer......hughes......Roach
F-FWD; Jackson....Limbach.....Foley
RUCKS: Pattison...Polo...........White

I/C:.... Graeme, Howat (TBC) (TBC)

(TBC) = To be confirmed

All positions dependent upon futute drafting of course  ;D

Frighteningly weak F-FWD & RUCK LINES.  If that's our future, we don't have much of a future.  On the other hand, the backline has potential, especially if McGuane actually makes it as a player.  Centre-line looks quick and classy, maybe a little soft though.  Good post.  :clap

GO TIGES!!!
