Polak & Jack - a stroke of genius.

FWIW I reckon Polak's looked a lot better in attack. Against Adelaide he did better in five minutes than Schulz had done all night. But if he plays forward, what have we done to resolve our problem for defensive KPPs?

Agreed. Send Polak to the forward line, and finish the job of converting Shulz into a CHB. Seriously, it makes a lot of sense.

IMO Schulz has looked better at CHB. Brings him into the game. Normally, the Sarge is an astute user of the ball. At CHB he can get it. And he is aggressive.

Exactly. We did also give up pick 42 (Bachar Houli) in the so-called best draft ever. Houli would be a great fit in our team. Looks like he'll be a hard-bodied midfield type player that we desperately need and skills to match. Way too early to call it a 'stroke of genius'. Wouldn't want to downgrade draft picks again i wouldn't think.

GO TIGES!!!

Because Houli went at 42 does not mean we would have taken him even if we held that pick. There is a lot of talk that Connor will also be very good when he gets enough fitness to get him through a full game at the elite level. Inside football quotes him as the "Steal of the draft" a couple of weeks ago so don't undersell what we got out of the trade to early.

wallace knew we were stuffed in defence and told miller do whatever you can to get polak, miller as always got himself excited and loved being involved in trade week
Actually it was Miller who was very keen on Polak not Wallace.
Hate for the facts to get in the way of a good story :P

did he wear the no 4?

The "1" and only No. 4....................You are correct Sir.

My first true love.................Damn , where have the last 40 years gone.

They don't make 'em like him anymore , come to think about................there was never another "ONE" like him..............Once in a Lifetime , what a pleasure it was.

Ahhhhh , how I yearn for THOSE good Ol' Day's to return.

What EXACTLY have we WON ??????

I can't believe the expectations that alot of PRE-Posters are placing on this Kids Shoulders.
God , I hope he's Half as good as the last CHF we got from Clarence a FEW !!!! years back...............What was his name ?????

What are you talking about?

We won because we were going to select Jack Riewoldt anyway, so even if Jack becomes a dud it DOESN'T MATTER because we would have picked him ANYWAY and therefore the Polak deal is not to blame. I really don't see what Jack's success has to do with the actual trade, it is completely irrelevant see?

The only difference the Polak trade had was pick 42 changing into pick 58, or Houli into Connors as it turned out, but who knows who we would have picked with 42.

For whoever said Polak's disposal has been 'good' he's been our best ball user all year (well behind Hughes but Cleve's figures aren't fleshed out properly yet). He is in the "elite" category for clangers per disposal which is better than our last 2 defender retirees ;D :hihi

Sorry Benny , maybe I need to clarify my original post.

My first line was referring to the fact that the Thread was "Thanking" Miller for getting Riewoldt (Via Draft) and Polak (Via Trade) as if they are the going to be reason we win the flag this Year.
I just thought it sounded a little premature to be Congratulating anybody just yet , as 0-8 used to be considered pretty poor form when I last played the Game.
I'm in no way blaming either of these players for that record , especially Jack , seeing as he hasn't played a Second in any of those games , so that's a NO-Brainer. Polak has actually been quite impressive from what I've seen, could be a nice addition to this Club IF we can pick up another 6 Quality AFL Players.
So to say we "WON" by getting these Guy's is taking optimism to a new level in my opinion. Give them some time and then lets take a look at the situation, but certainly NOT after 8 Games , especially as it's been 8 sad losses on the trot.

Hope that makes my feelings a little clearer Benny.

Cool, fair enough :)

I think it is a win anyway because we still got Jack. I remember the uproar on here when we found out we downgraded a first round pick in the superdraft... but that has now become an irrelevant concern, not because of anybody's form, but because we didn't actually 'lose' Jack.

Got Ya.

Yeah , I wasn't about back when the draft took place , but I get the Gist of what went done amongst Posters.

Let's hope Jack is the "2nd Coming of Roycey Baby"......................God knows that would be a start back to credibility at least.
I'll be up at 4.30AM "Satdey Morning" listening in ,hoping for a HUGE debut for the Kid , hope he has a Blinder.
