Graham polak is to stay on tigers list.
Hope he makes a full recovery for his own health first and foremost , its good to see the club doing the right thing by him and giving him every chance to play again..

All veterans also retained....and CC says Cuz not likely but does not completely rule him out

Isn't good news for Petts, hard to see us 'carrying' 2 players into a new season. Petts being off contract would appear to be see ya.

Tigers are going to approach afl to put polak on rookie list as bummbers did with ramanascous.

the mail is that Polak will stay on our list but if he can't play, will have his final year of his contract extended to probably over two years to give salary cap relief next year and to allow the RFC to continue to support him. It will of course mean we are effectively one short on the list hence also the need to expand the rookie list to its maximum.

Interesting idea.

Pass on Cousins but I'd like to see the club have a crack at Kerr.

That better be the case, I don't see the point of keeping him from the club's perspective.

The club has already applied to have Polak put on the rookie list and the club stated at the b&f I believe that we will have 6 rookies in 2009.

Yes but if that fails we will have to keep him for at least next year. It is a good idea IMO extending Polak's contract, it minimises Polak's impact on the salary cap each year, then place him on the LTIL at the start of each year then immediately promote a rookie thus not really effecting the list at all.

Does that mean we won't have anyone on the Veteran list?

No. We will still have Vet's i think.

I've been led to belive by someone on here that all clubs get two extra rookies for 2009/2010 as part of a balancing act for this expansion to Goldcoast/Sydney.

Can someone else confirm?

It's good to hear that good old Polly will stay on the list next year. But I hope that if the club knows that he wont be playing in '09 that there is permission to put him on the rookie list while he recovers as there is a lot of good kids this year before the concessions come in next season.

I hope if Newman does get the captaincy then Sugar will lose his position of automatic selection. At times this year he certainly wasn't in our best 22, yet his role as captain gave him a place in the team.

This is where Cameron & Wallace needs to show some gonads IMO.
if you can't say with a cast iron guarantee that Sugar is in our best 22 next season then he should hang up the boots and give those opportunities to the kids.
Problem is that we want to limp into the finals..

Agree TOO and I think 80 per cent of PRE think Sugar will be holding back a young guy (either Polo or Jacko) by playing on next season.
The perfect example of letting someone stay on the list for a token season when it is obvious they are falling off the pace.
It could be handled well with sugar taking up an immediate off field role if he is held in such good opinion by the younger guys.
