The list is better than 2004, but Terry has cut corners in rebuilding and so the list remains a disappointment. Without cutting those corners (some obvious) we would have a much better list.

But at least the next coach will have more to work with, probably including a top 5 pick in the next draft.

Terry said on the news tonight that our list isn't good enough. It's the list he rated better long term than the Hawks when he arrived and has had 5 years to improve further on. Who isn't good enough?

The only reason he said our list was better than the Hawks was becasue we waved a 5 year mega bucks carrot in front of his face. The Hawks were smart and were only offering 3 years on alot less.

Rated our list better - pffffft. He wouldn't have been able to name 5 tiger players back then.

Ye reap what ye sow.

Five drafts, trading periods & pre-seasons are plenty of time to put your stamp on a football club. But it took Terry four full seasons to make a decision on fringe players like Tivendale and Hyde.

Terry owns the list and should take responsibility for it. Case closed.

I believe the list is better, but I am not as enthused about the future as I was back then...

At the end of Spud's reign we had 5 top 20 picks, teams who were prepared to give away draft picks for players and the hope that a few good recruits would help us build a strong list for the long term. And we had a coach who said all of the right things but didn't follow up on most of them.

Fast forward to 2009 and we will get one early pick this year, have few players with any currency so can't trade for top picks (and most clubs other than ours treasure early picks these days), and several years of compromised drafts which will hinder our progress (not to mention the potential to lose good players to the GC).

I believe it will be a long and painful few years, no matter who coaches us. And we can thank Greg Miller and Terry Wallace for much of it.

I think we are in a better position now in terms of potential and future development than we were in the last year of Spud. Most of our list is under 23 and with the majority of the senior players moving on next year we will only get younger.

I don't predict the future short term pain many on here do but I do think we are still 2/3 years away from that 'Sustained Era of Success' TW predicted based on the ages of our players. By this stage we will have players such as Lids, Foley etc taking the heat off our young recruits, a luxury they themselves have never had I must add due to our lack of quality senior players.

I think we are still rebuilding and while we may have missed on a few draft choices (Meyer, JON, Hughes... ::)) we still have players who are growing into form and who a new coach can mould into an unified, team orientated force.

Just need some young leaders to stand up and a KPF and we will be looking a hell of a lot better sooner rather than later
