Let's see how we compare to the poll on the RFC site. It's not exactly an even playing field seeing we've now taken Polak and I've changed it to upcoming draft rather than upcoming draft and trade period as it is on the RFC site.

I'm voting for key forward. I'm so sick of wathcing our defenders clear the ball only to watch it hit our CHF area and head straight back to them again. It's happened for years.

Terry doesn't seem to fancy playing a traditional CHF but I don't know whether that's because of lack of personal or his game plan but I'd like to see the ball head our way more from that position.

.....................................
..............Polak .............
oakleys Deledio meyer
.......... Hughes............
.......... Schulz..............
Pattison Polo Tambling

if you wanted to build a team based on young top 30 draft picks

here's where we are at

A couple of months ago I would have said a key defender. But now I think inside midfielder.

Not only have we picked up Polak since then but I've since begun to subscribe to the theory that it's best not to draft a key defender with an early pick (although I picked N Brown for Geelong in the phantom draft because I think he was next best KPP of those that were taken). For an early pick (in our case) all KPPs picked should be primarily forwards. It is easier to teach a KPP forward to play back than vice versa.

Given the Polak situation (and I'm basing this on Polak stepping up to be a solid (not star) CHB/FB - which I think you need to), I think we more desperately need an inside midfielder, with strong skills (which we don't have at the moment). I've just officially slotted Daniel Connors (who is a rarity in that he has good speed and can play inside) and, failing that, Tom Hislop on to my Pick 13 wishlist.

Inside midfielder - look at the last 5 premiers and see where their strengths were - in the engine room......

What Bris and Remote said - desperately need another hard bodied Inside Midfielder to learn the caper from Cogs before he's injured outa the game - whether he's there at pick 13 remains to be seen though?

Whenever we get truly smacked it is because we lack quality in the midfield.  Has to be an inside midfielder.  Though I would love to see Riewoldt come to us if he is still on the bench waiting to be picked when our turn finally comes around. :frustration

I know where people are coming from with inside midfielder, but my gut is still telling me key position defender.

I agree.
With new forward(s), comes a whole new game plan - But then again, some of us here have been sick of both the game plan and the existing forwards.
It's happened for years.

Given that Polak is yet to do anything, there's still queries on Thursfields recovery, and Gaspar will be heading out soon, I've said Key back. It only takes an injury to 2 defenders, and we're back where we were last year.

I think for Key Forwards, we'll be right IF Schulz can come good and hughes develops nicely.

Inside mids would be my second choice, with another skillful outside midfielder down the list too. Until Tambling, Meyer, JON step up, we cannot assume we've got that position covered.

i picked a inside midfielder if we improve our midfield maybe we could stop the ball going down back :clap

P.S thanks for welcoming me 2 PRE rosy23  :)
