This is a great decision by the club.

I wonder how many complaining would have actually gone to the game at Marvel.

I've been to all our Marvel games over the last few years, and it's pretty bleak.
A million bucks AND we get to avoid Marvel?

And members get 11 games at the G?

How brilliant is that?

We've got our cake, we're eating it, and getting paid a million bucks to do so.
Yeah I’m with this…

I go to all our home games at marvel too. And to the people saying this is embarrassing or makes us look like a minnow club etc ..

You know what’s embarrassing and minnow club worthy… pulling 18k at marvel games.

It actually does feel embarrassing at those games with gws home game type atmospheres.

Let’s take the cash while the rebuild is underway both on and off the field.

I intend to take it up at the AGM. The club treats its members like pure junk and this is the latest and most humiliating embarrassment so far. If they continue not to listen then the club will continue to go the way of North and the Saints & Dogs and the other competition minnows.

Or maybe they would wake up to themselves and either shape up or ship off the useless admin if people vote with their feet.

Honestly, there are much bigger and more important questions to ask the club and the board at the AGM... and that is the nominations committee and the fact that the board is not democratically elected anymore. Nor is there a true representative of the fan base on the board.

We are being given an extra game as compensation, listen to the interview

Nah sorry, that part of this deal is a total scam.

It'll be GA entry in the Ponsford stand at a designated away game. The value of the ticket will only be a small percentage of the reserved seat that many of us pay for at a regular home game.

Personally, I would rather a discount on my membership.

Dont see Collingwood selling home games....

Nor Carlton or Essendon or West Coast or Adelaide.

We are well and truly amongst the true minnows of the comp.

Agree the crowds we get at Marvel (and occasionally at the G) when we aren't going well are embarrassing and the fans who no show are to blame there as well. We have some absolute shocking bandwagoners

We can never claim to be a big club again while selling home games
You mean like the Hawks?

There's more to being a big club than the volume of home games you have in Melbourne. Consider volume of memberships etc.

Yes the hawks are not a big club either. We've consigned ourselves to that territory. Any thought of being in the "big 4" is dead and buried

We really do have some sooky fans, we sell off 2 games to help finance state of the art facilities right next to the MCG that sets the club up for decades and all i hear is WAAAAHHHH

Forum would be pretty boring if everyone always agreed. We all love the club and want what is best. I just can’t fathom how this was considered to be the right decision

You're in a panic mate and not being very rational. You've consigned yourself to this purgatory. The club will be fine.

It'd be ideal to not sell the games, but we have a need, and if there was ever a time to do it, now is the time. I'll take short term pain over long term gain. It didn't hurt us last time this happened. I'm sure it'll be fine again.

It did hurt us last time. Cost us finals in 2012 and embarrassment in 2011.

Even if you agreed on the concept of selling home games which I detest to the core. Why are north able to extract $2.5m per game in WA and we *smile* the bed and sell our soul for a pittance?

Collingwood Carlton and Essendon fans show up to their home games at marvel.. ours don’t..

You purchase a H&A membership with access to all Vic games. Now there will be one fewer. I don't want a replacement game interstate.
No, if you have H&A membership, you don't know how many Vic games we are getting until the fixture comes out.
Usually 16 or 17. And it will still be 16 or 17.

How many games in Vic are we getting?
Truth is you sign up for a H&A membership without knowing the fixture.
True, but the comments that everyone keeps making saying we get a replacement game is fine for 11 game home memberships. I've already paid for that replacement game, as well as my membership increasing in price.

I would have paid extra on my membership to take the Marvel games off it.

This is better.

FWIW, if we'd sold an actual home game (at the G) I would have been grumpy too.

Those losses were always going to happen as we weren't good enough. But they also gave us finals experience, which helped us develop a golden era.

We're playing 1 - count it with me, 1 - game each year, for 2 years. North are playing 2 games. In Bunbury and Optus Oval. 3hrs flight time, and 2hrs time zone difference away. We're going to be 1hr ish away. Same time zone, where we have a good supporter base.

Seriously, the sky isn't falling.
