I think Polo will be the one to watch next year has height, pace takes a good grab & is couragous. Just want to hear thoughts on were he ranks in foot speed with the rest of our team?

I think he's at the lower end for foot speed, but up at the higher end for leg speed.

He's not real fast, but by gee he's quick!

(Peter Landy, boot in mouth, circa 1970's??)

LOL.

I thought Dean Polo was described best recently by a poster as the "Footballer's footballer".
I think Dean can go as far as he wants in this game. Has the ability to become a very good player. :fing32

After the brief & exciting taste he had this season,he'll be jumping out of his skin for next season to start.Gunna be special!

Pace wouldnt be his greatest asset IMO, but with his ability to read play ,some up a situation an coolness under pressure he dosent have to be super quick by foot .(bargain of 04 draft)

Out of all our youngsters Dean Polo is probably the one i worry least about in terms of making the level and playin 250games. He is just a ripper footballer...does all the 1%'s and just oozes courage and class....he would be a coaches favourite!! Going to be a beauty over the next decade!

My thoughts also.

Dean Polo...bargain buy of the century. add Andrew Raines then appreciate the work done by our recruiters. Watch out for more late picks this year!

Solid player without real damaging attributes. Very fast in mind, and very composed for a kid. Very Wayne Campbell like in that is reliable and consistent with reading of play, positioning and decision making. Great hands and won't fumble. However lacks hurt factor with disposal and leg speed. Would like to see him work on his leg strength so he can gain a yard in pace and penetration.

Good post Harry, but while your description of his attributes is very good, I disagree on the summary in the first sentence.

While it is still early days, I would say Polo has very damaging attributes a sa footballer. He does lack hurt factor technically in his kicking and leg speed, but he is so smart, that his possessions are all in very damaging spots and he almost invariably chooses the right options. No easy kicks or useless banging it on the boot. In addition, he is one of those rare types who can play tight and get the footy going the other way as well.

I recall that when Dean Polo first got drafted, one of the commentators said.."freakish skills"....no arguement here!
Shows great composure and coolness when getting tackled, doesnt cough up the ball or turnover.

I like the boy!
