Each game i am seeing the same issues.. butchering of the ball, lack of skill, lack of execution.. sure u can blame the players but i'm starting to think it goes further back. Who is the skills/development coach? and what skills are u actually teaching them?
You would say 'duds' cant be taught, or some just have the 'It' factor.. but looking at other clubs the ones who dont have "it" work hard on it and can be polished with education.
If u look at Kouta.. he wasnt meant to be a footballer, but somehow he is one of the greats.. because someone at carlon has taught him how. (with loads of practise)
Instead of counting how many poeple we can cull off our list - tell me who has the potential (born with them or not) but is not learning it because of lack of training and education?

It is recruiting. We don't know how to recruit true FOOTBALLERS. Terry is obsessed with pace but at the expense of football ability. You can't teach a player to have a footy brain; to read the play, to run to the right positions to create and receive. You either have it or you don't. Our recruiting is killing us. We recruit very average players who don't have football smarts, skills, etc... Give me a footballer any day over an an athlete who can run quick.

GO TIGES!!!

When you have Jade Rawlings on the coaching group it sums in up.

Richmond should seriously look at getting the likes of Wayne Campbell, Matty Knight or a Paul Broderick into the coaching group.

i think Matty knights hates us... Wayne is with bulldogs?! (correct me if i'm wrong)... why did we sack Brian Taylor last year? not saying that he was n e good.. the more help with teaching and education the better.. surely

So Wayne can teach our kids the art of kicking the ball 5 metres forward and 40 metres straight up?!

Ahh the choices we make for captain :hihi

we have monky, who is a top bloke and works between helping us and looking after his gravely ill son.

I mentioned to a few people earlier in the season that Matty KNights has been doing a good job in all his coaching roles, and would be a good fit into the coaching team. Mind you he wouldnt leave the position he has just to be on a coaching panel. Another option could be Chris Bond, doing a great job at the dogs . . . .

We need to get over the romanticism of getting former players back to the club, especially when they were part of very little success.

Agree 0game. A previous link with a club, whether it be a player that supported the club as a kid or a former player not coaching or administering elsewhere does not enhance the success of the individual.

The heat is on Wallace and his first casualty might be Brian Royal.
That will not happen. They have a strong bond & excellent working relationship.

Agree with this thread in pointing out the poor skills at the club. One of the key areas that Wallace wanted to address was our skill when he came to the club and this is still a major concern.

Alot more training has to be done in building mental tougness of the players as panic that sets in them during a game destroys their confidence and the skill errors creep in. I think the saying goes 90% of the game is won above the shoulders !

I think we're blaming the wrong people in singling out Wallace and Royal. Must of our unskilled players came to us long before they got here, Most of the player recruited during there era don't seem to bad. Most of them are still very young and it is way to early do make a call on whether they can develop there skills to the level required.

Doc Whealdon has been moved on and he was one of the kicking coaches so lets hope that this is part of the process of improving the skills level.

They didn't seem to have much trouble teaching skills to the Doggies, so lets hope they can improve our skill levels.

They would be accutely aware our skill levels are below par, but by and large the one who let us down the most are the old hands such as, dare I say it, Johnson, Tivendale, Richo and Gas when was around. I actually believe our skills have improved, especially in the younger guys and at times we look good, but the kids still need to learn to deal with the pressure of AFL football and the only thing that will help in this regard is game time which most are finally getting.

Yeah.....funny how wallace and royal turned the doggies into a highly skilfull unit, yet they are the ones that have turned our players into a non-skilled pack. Goes deeper than that. It all has to do with their heads. Once again it is the senior blokes leading by example in this case.

I've said this before.

If TW goes beyond 5 years then surely we'll need an assistant who has played premiership footy and with the times to replace Royal.

If Royal is still around, then the RFC could be some kind of 'family' business.

skills and full back kicking (tactics) are the two biggest problems we face.

Need to increase our skill level by at least 25%, reducing our turnover. In addition, we let sides in with our poor decision making from full back, need to ensure our backs create space and improve delivery to running players.

The centre huddle is not working when we are under pressure, there are no fast breaks and too often the turnover comes on the wings.

if these two items had improved at the start of the year, we would be 5 wins 5 losses

Campbell - On his return to Australia spoke to Wallace. Wallace recommended going to another club to better his development (i.e. see how things are done in different team environments), and once a stint is done there consider returning to the club. This is a common belief now, with Pies looking at similar for Buckley, and Brisbane praying Voss does the same.

Bond - Rumoured to be in good position to get a senior job at years end, has a very good rep

Knights - Heard he is doing really well with the VFL, but not sure if all is forgiven yet
