Positional changes you would like to see for the rest of the year

I would like to hear from people on what they think would be some good positional changes to try for the rest of the year. Experiment a little I say.

Personally speaking, I would like to see the following...

Polo... try him on the ball again. IMO he did well as an in and under player. Give it a go.

McGuane as FF. He did well in his formative years as a forward but due to a dearth of backmen we had to change his game.

If McMahon is to be played I would like to see him tried as a forward flanker. Who knows what might come of it.

Hislop... try him on the ball. He was an an in and under midfielder as a junior.

Morton... give him a go on the ball. Wasnt he a midfielder as a junior? Needs to improve his motor, but would be an interesting exercise.

Post... try him at chb if need be... but prefer to leave him forward at this stage.

It is time to experiment with these things. Some may fall over and be failures, others may enlighten us. Who knows? But it is worth trying now.
There are a few others that dont spring to mind atm but I welcome people suggestions.

Surprised not one response to this thread. Maybe I should have chucked "choo choo" in somewhere to get a response. ::)

I started to reply but couldn't think of any you hadn't covered. I especially agree on giving Hislop a good run in the middle.

Like to see Vickery,Post and Jack play a lot together up forward......wouldnt mind seeing Tucky play at FF...........like to see Newman on wing

Agree with what you have said TD............no harm in trying anything at this stage

Not saying you're right or wrong TD but this would actually go against one of the biggest criticisms from the players of TW and that is that players weren't allowed to settle into one position.

Im with you in regards to Mcguane TD.He actually has a great leap.
Polak has been killing them in the Ruck at Coburg..Bring him in as backup to Vickery.

McGuane would be useless as a FF, or even in the attacking zone. He's a poor decision maker and a shocking kick, reminds me a lot of Gaspar in many ways, i.e. he's ok as a dour defender but approach with extreme caution for any other position.

It might not be the popular view, but i would like to see Newman played up the ground a bit more. Generally shows a bit of composure and his skills are close to as good as we've got. He seems to get critcised for his loose checking a fair bit, so lets take that out of the equation. Play him around the wing or half forward and let him hit Jack, Mitch and Post or Vickery on the chest.

Deledio - In to isolution for 3 weeks due a mystery virus

Tambling back to the hypoinist to reverse what he has done to him

Cotchin to his holiday house to prepare for an early start to pre-season

Cousins and Richo to the coaching box

Foley - no change

Moore - to the surgeon to fix his shoulder

firstly i would move tuck to HFF - i have been saying this for years. he is hard at it, has defensive skills and is good overhead - HFF is almost a midfielder anyway

newman up the ground, maybe wing or the other HFF his footskills and experience would be well served

tambling and deledio both off HBF, their run and carry and footskills could be very dangerous and hard to match up on

this is how i would set up for the rest of the year (bar injury)

B: Moore Silvestor Thurstfield
HB: Tambling McGuane Deledio
C: Cotchin Jackson Collins
HFF: Newman Riewoldt Tuck
FF: Nahas Vickery Morton

R: Graeme Cousins Foley

I: Polo Edwards Hislop Post

Personally I'd like to see a few more youngsters get some game time, no point having them on our list
if we dont know what they have to offer on the big stage.

I dont subscribe to the "Earn your way into the side" theory.
Whole heartedly believe you have to peform to STAY IN the side.
Simply put, the pressure needs to be on the entire 22 week in week out.

A bit of height in the forward line never goes astray either.

NO FREE RIDES !

B: McGuane Silvester Thursfield
HB: Tambling Moore Gourdis
C: Cotchin Jackson Cousins
HF: Newman Deledio Riewoldt
F: Nahas Vickery Morton

R: Browne Collins Coughlan

I: Rance Post Polo Putt

agree.

Jon, King and raines on the ball

would like to see brown and angus share ruck duties (pattison not to play)

tuck up forward

vickery and post to alternate between FF and CHF, maybe if match up right Post to have a look at CHB

Cotchin to get a good go on the ball

Cousins and Newman to play wing

McMahon to be dropped

Deledio to play of half back, with Tambling on the other HBF

Silvester to stay at FB

Richo to come back and star!

Schulz needs to be given a run at FF (with the slightly altered game plan that Jade has introduced where the ball comes into the forward line a bit quicker I think it might suit him)
Bowden (if HE chooses to play on) should be given a run in the forward line - he can kick, hes is smart and reads the play extremenly well.
Newman should be given a run in the middle
Agree that Tuck as well should be tried in the forward line at some stage.
