Positives Chapt.2

I'm encouraged that TW rolled the dice with the kids for the first time since he has been there. As I suspected it didnt hurt too much, in fact we were no worse than usual, but some of our kids got great experience.

Playing kids in meaningful roles is a better way of going than taking them on and off the pine all night.

I'm gutted by Will's injury, he was brilliant on Reiwoldt.

Kane johnson just not giving his direct opponent any respect,

IMO Kane limited the usually match winning performance of Harvey - it was one of the reasons why our mid-field was able to stay with them.

Just my opinion..........

I think it was great that of the ones we're praising there are a couple of kids in that mix in Raines and Jackson. They are the future of the club.

Patrick Bowden was fantastic ..told a lot of you he would be a handy pick up for us
Jackson looks great in the forward line
Raines was great too
Will was fantastic until .. :(

Negitives
Krack seems too Slow
Think Humm will get elevated from the rookies. We need another midfielder and Moore if fit will have to get a go if fit. Thing is we don't have many tall defenders so loosing Will and Sarge will be a huge loss for us .

Andrew RAINES come on down
Daniel JACKSON come on down
Get well soon Will
Head up Jay

Well done Wallace

Well done richmond

Much better effort...given our recent history with this opposition.

Deledio showed a bit in the centre which was pleasing...starting to wonder about his mental state a little though...he seems flat...which is perhaps a little understandable...just hope it's not a lack of desire to play with us resulting in him just going through the motions.

I don't think it is that he was flat. He seems to be a very serious player and being so serious can be seen to be unhappy or "flat". I think the fact that he is about to sign a three year deal means that he is not just going through the motions. Was just on Fox Footy's Football Central. He seemed OK said that we should of won the game. Was OK with his own performance but said he turned it over a couple of times so will be trying to improve that aspect. Said that he is not going out to dominate, but to just contribute to the team.

i thought our kids showed enough to keep their places in fact if our senior players were more polished we would have won tonight. people praising j bowden *smile* who i thought made some dreadful errors. krakouer went missing again gaspar coughed it up and kellaway continually ran himself into corners and then dished of to a team mate putting him under pressure.richo was well beaten by hudghton. at least they had a dip and gave their best alas their best is not good enough.

How did Dal Santo go, Claw?

Hudgton was almost inside Richo's short in there first few contests, he was all over him, at the other end Riewoldt gets contact in a marking contest, and get a free kick.
And who was playing on Fiora in the first half, he ran around like Keith Greig picking up touches, the Richmond players gave him no respect, and he cut them up.

A different kind of positive......
This year is our first time in RFC members reserved seats and it was just great to be sitting with other Tiger fans.

Another positive on Player Raines: stats listed as 8 tackles.

A few comments on other threads that he makes the opposition earn possessions - I like the fact he combines some aggro at opponents with willingness to run.

I saw him a few times at Coburg last year and he was one of the better players without looking really good. So for myself, it is a positive that he has come on a fair bit this year. (And yes I know it is only two games so far but last year I just don't think he would have cut it.)

Yeah Heather, I saw that interview too. Just a little worried about his body language at times and the fact the coaching staff has intimated that he's had a pretty ordinary pre-season. When these things are combined (along with a little reading between the lines), it seems he's got some issues about something ATM...who knows what exactly...I just hope he can improve again on his ripper effort last year.

I am really interested in this statement, having not watched any of the practice matches or been down to training myself ...would you mind expanding on this? I know the whole team was pretty ordinary in the WB match and I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the replay. However I have watched the Saints replay twice now. I did notice a couple of blunders. But I am not sure about the body language issue. Was it an incident in that match? Can you point it out so I can keep an eye the next time I watch the replay? When you say he had a pretty ordinary pre-season what aspects exactly. I did notice that he bulked up quite a bit so he must have hit the gym pretty hard. Do you mean he was ordinary at pre-season training? I wonder if you can expand on this. I am a huge fan of his and am starting to get a bit worried.

I believe King and perhaps Wallace commented that the reason he started on the half back flank in the first match was that he hadn't had a great pre-season. Given that as you say, he'd put on a stack of bulk (which must have pleased them), I could only assume that it was a problem with attitude or application. As for specific incidents, there's been a couple of times - particularly in the Dogs match as I recall - where he's obviously been very frustrated with teammates, plus as a general observation he seems to be enjoying his football a lot less - all of which would be natural if you're getting thumped!

All in all it's probably a case of making a mountain out of a molehill...it's just his natural personality to not be very exuberant and it's obvious he hates losing - which is great! I was mostly interested in how it would affect his contract negotiation. From all reports he's been signed on for another few years which is fantastic news for the club and supporters. IMO, that's all we had to worry about Heather...the kid's a born champion and I was worried there'd been some internal conflict between him and the coaching staff, perhaps team even given the reports regarding our onfield infighting, which would affect our ability to retain him. I'm very pleased to see that hasn't been the case. :)
