PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Walked away from the Dome tonight feeling much better.
May not have won, but it was a much better effort.

Positives:
Change in tempo
Lift in the desperation stakes.
Willingness to run & make space, and play down the centre.

The signs were there in the 1st qtr.
I'd say the boys ran through the centre for about the last minutes of that qtr.
They carried it on into the first 5 minutes of the 2nd qtr, then again late in that qtr.
By the 3rd qtr there was a conscious effort by all to find options in the centre of the ground. Even Gaspar & Kellers were running forward to create options.
Throughout the 2nd half that conscious effort continued.

The best effort of the game was Will's game on Riewoldt, up until he went down.
Damn shame.

The midfield lifted enormously and were desperate to get first hands oin the ball.
Coughlan, on Hayes in the centre, was a much improved game.

Doesn't Tivendale look a much better player with his left foot on the inside of play? It's lifted his game 100%. Chris Hyde should look at doing the same.

Daniel Jackson at FF. Well done. Best game I've seen him play. Think he's found his position.

Patrick Bowden is a viable target at CHF. He may not have a great leap, nor pace, but he reads the game well, and is creative.

Troy Simmonds has earned his money 2 weeks in a row. I don't know who would have played in the ruck if he'd gone down.

I'm warming to Richo playing a kick behind play, much in the same way that Benny Gale did it later in his career. He looks lost, trying to hold his ground in a marking duel in Inside50. A loose man in defence might be his go, and it opens up the forward line too.

Credit to Terry Wallace. Tonight was the first game that I've seen him actually try to change the structure of the team. Hope he continues with those changes.

There were other positives but I'll give someone else a go.
There were some negatives but these can hold for another time.

A much improved effort by nearly all the players.
