positives from carlton loss

Positives
Cotch - Will be a gun. He shows talent we have not seen in a midfielder since I can remember.
Moore - Massively improved. Taking on the big jobs and holding his own.
Polo - Showed he might have a future.
Hughes & Morton - Backed up after the previous week with more goals
Bowden - Continued his return to form

Negatives
Hyde - Thanks for the memories Chris.
Tambling - Fumbled, soft at the contest. Needs a wake up call.
Browny - Worst game this year and arguably cost us any chance. Uncharacteristically poor kicking and shocking defensive efforts.
Richardson - well held. Injured or not it was his worst game for the year on an important day for the club.
King - The master of the 3 inch handpass to a team mate under the hammer. Fallen away from last season.
Ruck stocks - Simmonds injured and out of form. Pattison not up to it.
Midfield - Thrashed. Foley well tagged yet again. Deledio beaten by Gibbs. Tuck & Johnson well beaten. Carlton had 62 inside 50ms for the game

Agree - Well called. Unfortunately the negatives far outweighed the positives on Saturday. However like finding embers in a cold fire, Moore's performance on Saturday was exceptional, especially given Carlton's forward 50 entries and how often they go to Fevola. In Thursfield and Moore, we may now have some quality tall defenders. What we now lack (amongst other things) are a quality small defender and some hard nosed half backs.

I watched on tv so I don't think I had as much emotion riding on this game as those that were there.

I actually thought we were the better team, just don't have the endurance or depth yet. If we'd kicked straight in the first half it could have easily been a different result. I thought no Schulz was a mistake, and affected our defensive balance, and Polak going off didn't help.

I think our skills have improved significantly this year. I don't believe Raines has a spot if he doesn't change. Whilst our skills are better, we made some terrible entrances into the forward line in the second half, when a bit more composure to choose a better option would have made a big difference. I thought our ruckman were murdered, and a top shelf ruckman needs to be developed. Not given up on Patto, but I don't believe his role this year has helped his development. Why not play him as a forward for a few weeks and see how he goes. We really lacked a big target in the second half when we were under pressure.

We lack the rotations in the midfield to compete for 4 quarters. No coincidence that every week Cotchin gives us 60 minutes and we are competitive, and then he runs out of puff and so does the team.

Put Simmo in cotton wool for the year, perhaps play as a forward. As well as Richo. Hyde back to Coburg. Cartledge in. Give opportunities to Collins and Connors to show them what fitness is required to be able to play seniors. Give Rance some opportunities. Meyer a handful of games.

I can see the light, its just gonna take one or two more years to click. Without doubt our kids are better than our Frawleyesque players.
