Positives from today's game

I thought the most amazing thing from Melbourne's performance was that Meesen & Martin both played creditable games as talls.

Meesen in the ruck against Simmonds.

Martin as a tall defender.

And neither of these guys were considered even worthwhile looking at by us.

they didnt beat much now did they. if we had another ruck option simmonds would not get a game atm. and angus well as much as i want us to play kids if i was honest and you to one would have to say hes not going to make it.
martin did he play on jack jack had a poor game again he needs to go back to coburg for a short stint to find some touch and confidence. it would help if he had some big bodied support around him.why cant this club ever structure up the forward line properly. well the whole team for that matter.

What like play Richo at FF?

But that would mean we play more direct, we get Nahas more involved, we get a lesser defender on Jack/Morton etc etc. Why do that?

No, let's get snoozy back and watch him mince around the forward line for 60 minutes before putting Richo there

As for Melbournes talls, we made the Miller/Newton combination look 50 times better than it is - I still think our list has better long-term prospects.

There lies the problem ;)
Also like Warnock as well. Tough hard defender,.Liked Slyvia game as well

1. Rance showed he actually wanted to win the game deep in the last and was telling the boys to fire up
(he is in his 3rd game and is already a better leader than most we have)
Yeah, I saw that too, excellent. Ran his guts out as well until he looked like he was going to spew.

He's a goer that kid.

Yep...noticed it to...right in front of us. Was really fired up. Good on 'em.

How long until the Richmond-apathy kicks in? :-[

Our banner read "The Future Starts Now".

I don't think we tore it running through, so we can save it for next week...and the week after...

I cracked the same joke on Sunday! Or we could just amend a "and this time we mean it" to the bottom?

But does he have the polish evo? The goer who lacks kicking is a classic Richmond type.

I am on the fence at the minute. The kid breaks lines hard and I think this is a good thing but can he hit the target time after time? We need finishers.

Agree. I commented after the Coburg practice match that Rance should ultimately be rewarded for his workload but his disposal was suspect at VFL level which would only be exacerbated at AFL level. His workrate is Richo-esque...unfortunately so is his kicking.

Agree he is a little rough around the edges.

I dunno, I see some hope there. He reminds me a little of goose MaGuire.

"hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies"

This is the Richmond mantra circa 2009.

I was referring to us as the "Freo-of-the-East".

At least they have Mark Harvey as an excuse. :-\

Freo was stuffed before Harvey got there, that's why they got Harvey there. 8)

Agreed Scooper. He runs mega hard.

But his ball drop is technically flawed. Whilst young Rance will do some good things, his kicking will be perenially poor ILO. :-\
