Cool. I'm happy with him. Nice balance for the Pies, a bit of speed for the forward line.

Melbourne supporters claim they don't need talls as they have a bunch of average players on their list that are tall, but they need some quality and Schubert is clearly the best KPF in the mix this year, to me this and the midfield were a clear need. Having lost Clarry and Petracca I was hoping Robey or Cumming would fall through to get that power mid, but ended up going with the best available mid which is Dyson Sharp. Will eventually be the Jack Viney replacement in their Best 23. Kalani White as another tall so late was a no-brainer.

Jack Buller at 24 being the best is an indictment, add to a bunch of players picked after 45 again, I thought best to go with a scatter gun approach with who was on the board. Both Emmett and McCarthy were ranked much higher at different times over the last 2 years so provide upside. Curtin, I'm not sure where he is best set, played KPD in his 17th year and KPF this year and did well at both. Not sure why he's rated so low so seemed a good option at this stage of the draft. Koby Evans is a quick indigenous kid that plays as a mid-size forward, might take a few years but could be a great gamble at this stage of the draft.

Funny enough when I scanned the competition for a player similar to Cody Curtin, Jack Buller was the closest I could come up with. That's not to say he will be a middling key forward but finding his best spot not so clear at this early stage. He's 200cm so there's always the possibility of ruck, aerobic fitness is good and agility decent for a potential ruck. This is one position he won't be exposed for pace.
Brisbane:
Annable (5) - He's a highly touted prospect and part of the academy alumni, it was a no brainer in matching the bid placed on him. He further strengthens one of, it not the deepest midfields of all time.
Ta.Murray (45) - Given his scope for further improvement and ability to not rely on his skillset solely as a ruckman we hope he fills a long term need as Fort isn't getting any younger and Draper is mid aged; he fits the age gap nicely. Has the highest reach of any prospect in this draft and at 201cm and likely more growth to come plus elite agility which is crazy given his height; he fits the contemporary prototype ruckman espevially if the new rules are upheld long term.
Cook (51) - An accumulator and nice kick, can play half back and midfield. Vice captain at state level. Running ability not at the standard but given Brisbane's strength and conditioning is arguably the leader of the competition, we will back them in to bring him to the level.
Davis (53) - Another accumulator with dash from half back, good kick and can play lock down if called upon. Given Coleman is coming off a knee injury, McKenna to me looks cooked, Answerth lacks drive, & Zorko being one of the oldest players in the competition, there could be a spot at some point to be taken.
Voss (60) - Has been a revelation at Frankston this year as a half back. Is a metres gained machine with a booming kick, it is hoped he can play the Zorko role when called upon. There is also of course the romance of him representing the club both his father and famous uncle played for.

If that’s the way it pans out for us I would expect us to take Harry Scott as a rookie to close out the list given he seems to be training with the AFL boys atm.
