Membership renewals will be in the mail before we know it so it's time to start raising money for next year's sponsorships.

As most would be aware last year we raised approx $15,000 (without looking up exact figures) towards getting an extra rookie to the club as well as raising enough money to sponsor 6 players.

I've discussed our fundraising with Steven Wright.  It would be better to combine fundraising/player sponsorship instead of having people donating for 2 specific purposes. The money we raise will sponsor players but be used for a specific purpose rather than general revenue.

The club are unsure about the rookie situation as yet because Greg has been away on trade and draft duties.  If they decide they need help in regard to rookies that's where the money will go.  If not there are 2 options.

One is to use it towards the Tigers in the Community charity work.  The club are just about to appoint a person full time to run the Foundation so it should grow significantly next year, as will the needs to raise money for it.

The other could be to talk to Terry and find out a piece of equipment to benefit the team.

To enable everyone to participate there is no limit to the amount donated, it can be as big or small as you like.

For each $10 donated a ticket will be allocated in a draw to attend the Sportsman’s Dinner, Locker viewing evening and signed player photos and badges.

This post will be edited to keep an updated list of people who've contributed and overall $$ raised.

Anyone wishing to contribute please contact me for bank account details for payment.

Hey Rosy I am interested with the sponsorship of players at this stage through Pre. Just cant pay until we win some money on the spring carnival.

Good idea for the racing carnival, one of my bets will be dedicated to the Tigers. If it loses, so be it, if it wins...Tigers get it all :)

Not sure about the Tigers in the community thing. I give to charities separately. Donated money to the Tigers is to help them win a premiership.

Also, the fact the money would go to charity but only indirectly will probably mean it is not tax deductible.

Which ever way it goes - count me in Rosy!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Rookie Web Site and footy tipping competition last season and hope that something like that is available next season!

And the look on my 3yo son's face when we opened the envelope with the signed photo and badge of Shane Tuck was priceless!

I just love being a small part of the Tigers/PRE.........RT

I don't really see it as a donation to charity. The club has x number of things to do with y amount of money. If the money we raised goes to the foundation it means the money the club would have had to provide for that purpose can be used elsewhere.

I'll post on here as soon as Steven and Greg get a chance to catch thier breath and have a chat about the rookie situation in particular but just thought it would be a good idea to let people know their contributions can be paid any time now in case they are planning a break for a while as some do.

Is there a time limit for contributions? I'd be interested in potentially making a contribution, but I'd have to wait until my current money sink - university - finishes up before I can think about something like this.

Oh, and what would be an acceptable ballpark amount?

There's no real time limit sky, when we've raised enough and it's time to renew our sponsorships contributors will be invited to vote for players to sponsor and the money will be sent to the club.

For sponsorships the donatiosn vary from $10 to $100 and for the rookie support they ranged from $10 to $1000. MOst are between those extremes.

Wouldn't the sponsorship/donation money be a different category to the rookie club money?
Or would a donation of say $66 (same as last year) entitle you to access to the rookie club website, draft preview night etc?
Will there even be a rookie club website next year? Maybe it will just become part of the EOT arm of the RFC website.

They haven't decided about the Rookie site yet TD. It's more likely to be the basic $66 or whatever to access the website and tipping if it's still available. Most of us paid additional donations towards the rookies and if people want to do so again it can be paid here to be forwarded to the club.

The idea this time is to merge the sponsorship and donation money so it goes to a specific cause.

Maybe I haven't explained it clearly enough. If we receive $999 it's enough to sponsor 3 players but will be directed to a specific purpose (rookie, Tigers in Community, piece of equipment) but we'll still be sponsoring the players as well.

Yeah I understood that part Rosy.
They haven't decided yet. I guess we will find out soon enough. I might just hold off until they make an announcement all the same.

I will definitely be throwing some more of my hard earned pennies in the ring again Rosy, after all charity begins at home.

I really appreciate the work the club does for the Tigers in the Community charity work but would like our money to go to equipment that the club needs that may help us on our way to playing finals football, but I will go along with whatever the general consensus is.

My thoughts too.
As RFC is my favourite charity I shall be putting a few $$ aside as soon as possible.

Looking forward to it.

The Rookie Club was a great innovation.
The Angus Graham & Greg Miller diaries were entertaining & the tipping was exciting until I forgot to put my tips in.
It's good to see that the money goes into something tangeable, whether it be player sponsorships, and/or club equipment & facilties.

Although the rookies are now being funded by the AFL, the funds generated by the club could be the difference in gaining that extra player that we need. That player could be our rookie.
Otherwise, the funds generated could be related to that extra part-time specialist skills coach that the football department may need. That specialist coach could give us a monthly diary entry as to their role & the development of related players,
eg either one of Jade Rawlings or Craig McCrae's role, or someother.

Whichever,
I'm looking forward to season 2007 with a BIG Tiger roar.
