PRE think tank

I think a real, live tiger at Melbourne zoo should be ordained the Official Living Embodiment of the holy Richmond spirit. The kiddies would go nuts - all kids love animals! It would be somewhere to take budding Richmond supporters and thoroughly indoctrinate them while they are young. "Look, there's Jack, the real Richmond tiger! Isn't he beautiful!" What other teams could offer such an opportunity? You can't visit/see/identify with a "power", a "docker", a "blue", a "bomber" or a "demon". It wouldn't work with a "saint". Almost all the other clubs that have animal mascots, do not have animals that would be particularly interesting to a kid - who wants to see a "magpie/hawk/swan/crow/eagle"? There's nothing special about a "cat" or a "dog". Brisbane, and maybe North, are about the only other teams that could do it.

And when the Holy Tiger passes away, there could be a dalai lama-esque passing on to a new young cub in the zoo, who would fulfill the role for the remainder of his/her life.

Be even more feelgood if some corporate support could be rustled up to help in the animal's upkeep - I'm sure the zoo is interested in any kind of sponsorship they can get.

Sounds rather off-the-wall, but if you think about it, we do have an advantage over other clubs in that we could 'exploit' our mascot/nickname in a concrete way that almost all the others can't.

4. A 'Train like a Tiger' night or two. Where fans paying say $80-$120 or whatever, are put through their paces by TW and co. in a scaled down training session. Complete with RFC gear etc.
*I know there is already the Legends game which you can pay to play in but that is out of the reach of the average member. This idea would ensure that it is something that is within the grasp of the average member, should they choose to do it.
IMO it is potentially a quite good earner for the RFC (time permitting of course. But we do need the money). And that is why the tins will be there also.   ;D

Has this been done before? If this is an original idea it's bloody brilliant. It's one I'd support

i think an online tipping comp. $20 to be in it half goes to the club and half to the prize pool, make it an extra membership option or something. $20 doesnt sound much and makes it appealing but then you multiply the $10 richmond share by 27,000 (if every member was in on it) and you have 1/4 of a million straight up. with the same going to prize monies which makes the deal even sweeter.

Revenue ideas;

Maybe signed complete team jumpers (noting the year) sold by the clubs for a set price limited them till an end of a period (End of July) or to set quantity 500. $350 x 500 = $175,000 (to go towards our debts. Maybe make them based on a heritage style.

Or after each win have available small quantity of 50 or 100 balls signed purely by the team & coach that played that day for a set price. ($150 as a suggestion) = 100 x $150 = $15,000 per win.. All proceeds to go towards our debt.have the balls numbered by the coach = Say we win 10 games that equates to $150,000.

If we make the finals same deal but but higher price.
