This is a thread for PRE thinkers that have out of the box, left of centre, original, wacky and downright stupid suggestions for how to improve our team / club tactically, physically, mentally, financially or any other way you care to come up with.
There is just one rule - no negative postings. That's the principal behind think-tanks - no sledging people or their ideas. It's too easy to be a knocker - before you know it the thread will be discussing duds and who to delist next year. None of that *smile* here! Just pure creative thought please.
So, getting the ball rolling, I've got a few:
1. I believe that the tactic of running the ball deep into the forward line has not been fully explored to anywhere near its potential. In the right situations - perhaps after a point kick-in, or a free kick in the centre of the ground after a centre bounce - a ball carrier flanked by several players proving shepherds could easily get well past the 50m line to have a shot at goal - a la the old Spartan battle Phalanx.
2. The potential and implementation of zone defences has a long way to go. Especially the emphasis of weighting a zone in favour of one side or area of the ground.
Remember, if you disagree - zip it. Make your comeback a better idea.
